Help Me...please
I have recently come into some money (around $300) and am looking to expand my anime collection. I need sugestions for something that will be worth the money. I already have or have seen the full series of:
Gundam Wing
NGE
Cowbopy Bebop
FLCL
Love Hina
Outlaw Star
Akira
Memories
I need something that's good...really really good.
I hope someone will respond, but if you do, I would appreciate a short description / why you like it....
Thank you very much...

"Something that's good" is a very broad request...there are literally hundreds of series that people could name off. Of course, you could give http://www.animenfo.com/statistic/top.php?type=anime a try, since most of those seem to be fairly well-liked.

I am greatly obliged to you, my friend...
Let me narrow my search from "very good" to "so good that you would be willing to buy it, not on the list above, and that you would suggest for somebody who likes to think..."
Thanks to anyone who responds.

If you liked NGE, I suggest RahXephon. It's kinda like NGE, except the story is more complex (but just as good if not better) and the imagery of the system underlying the important plot developments (for lack of a better way to put it) focuses on music rather than Christianity.
Plus the dub is good and the animation is really pretty.
And did I mention that the ending makes a lot more sense?![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Makes more sense than NGE?
I never thought that would be a problem for any anime...
Thank you very much Scintilla, I appreciate the time you have spent in writing your post,
I checked the list that I was given by IcyCloud, not a bad list, thanks a lot.
Keep the suggestions coming, oh and did Rahxephon start as Manga or anime...
(I was recently given the first four NGE Mangas and it mentions Rahxephon in the end advertisements.
Thanks again to anyone who posts.

RahXephon started as an anime; the manga is rather shorter (3 volumes vs. 26 episodes) and has quite a few things different. But it's still really sweet and a good read.NiTsukiOutlaw wrote:Keep the suggestions coming, oh and did Rahxephon start as Manga or anime...

If you like to think---> Lain, Rahxephon
If you like bloody action with great story---> Berserk
If you like action, and drama with good plot--->Noir
If you like stylish vampire movies--->Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
If you like good vampire series---> Hellsing
If you like more down to earth, funny and "cute" series--->Fruits Basket
If i were to pick 3 of those to take with me on an island, i'd pick:
-Berserk
-Rahxephon
-Fruits Basket

NGE ending makes PERFECT sense, everything "clicks", but that is only if you read parts of the bible like i have. Everything you see in the show and the movie, simple images, numbers, doors, and etc, are all direct representations from parts of the bible. This is the evangelion, only not on paper.Scintilla wrote:If you liked NGE, I suggest RahXephon. Okay, I admit to having worded that badly.Banana_Boat wrote:NGE ending makes PERFECT sense, everything "clicks", but that is only if you read parts of the bible like i have. I should have said "they didn't run out of money and have to substitute a low-budget philosophical/psychological view of the conclusion for the exciting, violent, apocalyptic view that the fans all wanetd to see". Or "the ending does not leave you thinking 'I waited 24 episodes for THIS?!'".

I know, I know, the end of Evangelion and The End of Evangelion complement each other, but you have to admit that the TV ending is still a disappointment.
And by the way, I've read the Bible and I know about all the Judeo-Christian imagery going on in the series. But if I remember correctly, almost none of that is mentioned in the ending anyway.
