Post by older_gohan » Thu Sep 01, 2005 12:47 pm

Ok here's your chance to decide which anime would make a great live action movie. Ok here's the parameters.

Name of Anime:
Name of Movie:
Length:
Why it would make a movie:

Here's mine.

Name of Anime: Ah! My Goddess
Name of Movie: With you Forever a Ah! my Goddess Story
Length: Full length feature
Why it would make a great movie: for starters the fact that little special effects would be needed, this anime is a great love story of two people who cross unexpected paths one not getting what he wanted at first but then both eventually falling in lvoe with each other. Ah! My Goddess would make a perfect Romantic Comedy.

Mine Are (Not The Best Though, but I Tried)Name of Anime: Full Metal Alchemist
Name of Movie: Sacrifices And Challenges
Length: Full Length Feature
Why it would make a movie: I think it would be cool if Full Metal Alchemist was made into a live action movie because it is one of the best action and adventure shows out there. Also, the story will be almost the same from the tv show, the older brother losing a leg, but sacrifices his right arm to bind the younger brother's soul into a nearby suit of armor. The older brother gets automail for the leg and arm they he lost, the older brother becomes a state alchemist in order to search for the Philosopher Stone which may be the key to the brothers gettting back what they lost. They face with challenges along the way. (I only seen 26 episodes of the series, but I will continue watching this show when it comes back on TV with new episodes)

Name Of Anime: Fushigi Yugi (spoiler for who hasn't seen the show at all yet)
Name Of Movie: Journey Inside A Mysterious Book
Length: Full Length Feature
Why Make It Into A Movie: It would be cool for another awesome show to be made into a live action movie. Here is a quick summary from what I have seen so far. Two best friends, Miaka and Yui find this mysterious book in the library, when they open the book, they get transported inside the book into like another world or something. Then, they get attacked, but a guy, named Tamahome shows up beating the guys up and saving the girls. Afterwards, Tama leaves, but Yui gets transported back into the real world, Miaka not knowing what happened and Miaka is still in the mysterious world. Later, Miaka becomes the priestess of Suzaku to save Konan and etc. I only seen 26 episodes of this series, I will see the rest as soon as i get the part two dvd boxset.

Name: Cowboy Bebop & Trigun
Length: 3 movies each, at least 2.5 hrs each
Why a trilogy, to get the whole story right and fliud, cant do it in just one movie like you cant do Spiderman and Batman in one, and to actually be good, it must be done by a fan or a director who actually watched and understood the series, no spielberg, no michael bay, and no joel shumacher to gay it up

Name Gungrave
Length: 2.5 hrs
why? because people love a good mafia movie, added with the supernatural, and a buy dressed in black, its it, thats done, can appeal to multiple genres, if Mark Damascous wanst too old, he could play Beyond the Grave/Blandon Heat

I think Spielberg is one of the greatest. Like you said, digitalkieran, a director would do good if they watched and understood the series.

Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Blood The Last Vampire
Petshop of Horrors (or something very similar)
Hellsing

- Poison

Name: Le Portait de Petite Cossette
Title: The Curse
Length: 2-3 hours
Why: With all of the new horer movies that have came out recently it would find an audiance and you could advertise the anime in the preveiws. Even if the movie sucked people would be interested in seeing the origanal. It would then increase intrest in anime in general and increase the number of Otaku's world wide. Look what happened with the Ring, before the movie no one knew about the Japanese horror movie scene but after that it was all over the place.

Title: SDF Macross: Do You Remember Love?
Name: Macross
Length: Likely 2-3 hours
Why?: ...dude, you take one look at the final fight in Independence Day and tell me it's a wonder they haven't already attempted a live-action Macross (all that would have been holding it back would be making the Valkyries transform, even now that's no longer a major problem)
Granted they'll have to do a bit more of an introduction to things than the movie initially had for the sake of newcomers, but it shouldn't be too hard to bring people up to speed on that.
Besides, if nothing else (much as I begrudgingly admit this) the nostalgia value from Robotech alone could probably carry this one through.
