Download Legal Anime

Post by obh04 » Mon Sep 19, 2005 11:24 pm

Look here. They are saying that you can download subtitled anime for a fee. I found this info on Anime News Network.
International Anime Distribution (or IAD) has sent out this press release announcing their lofty intentions to work with Japanese producers, American licensors and fansubbers to provide a pay-per-episode download service a'la iTunes for subtitled anime. While no titles have been announced, the websites - which are under construction - can be found here and here. Thanks to forums user HomeFry for the links.
I wonder how this will turn out?

Why would you want crappy compressed online subtitled video for money when you could just get DVDs for money instead?

Fail.

You do not know how crappy they will look. And if you want to try an anime to see what it is like, this is good for that. This could be a good thing, but we will have to wait and find out.

Frankly, I'll take price over quality anyway. If I can get it for free with a little worse look, I'll do it, thankyouverymuch!

If you look at the title of the article, it says it's about making some legal fansubs, so I image that these would come out far ahead of dvd releases, while the show is still actually airing on japanese television.

I don't question or care what anyone decides to do when it comes to this. To each, their own. There's no telling if that site or this oneare nothing but scams.

Yes, as do I, and I hate watching shitty quality. Of course, that's a side effect of this damn hobby. I never noticed the crap I do now before I started editing.

I just would rather have DVDs, and if I want to preview I'll just download it off limewire or something. I mean unless it's great viewing quality I really don't want to pay for it, and then if it's great viewing quality it's going to be gigantic and take forever to download, so it fails either way.

But then again I did buy the R1 Sailor Moon DVDs, so maybe I can put up with some degree of shittiness after all.
