Pseudo modern day could be Animatrix: The Second Renaissance
There's also several Miyazaki ones, most notably On Your Mark (a short), Castle in the Sky (admitadly about 1920s or so), or Ghost in the Shell (20 years future). You could also try Fullmetal Alchemist, again, 1920s, but they're surprisingly modern in warfare, sans the airplanes, especially towards the end of the series.
Anime's like American TV - very few shows actually dealing with modern warfare; most of them are past or future.
There's also one episode of Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai, episode 11, that deals with warfare (again, Modern I think)

Area 88, both the original and new series.
801 TTS Airbats. Kinda iffy, but JASDF did cooperate in its production.
hmm 1920s is too early.. well maybe not... >.> we'll see...EmilLang1000 wrote:Pseudo modern day could be Animatrix: The Second Renaissance

i thought about saikano and would actually work. not sure why i didn't add that to my list. i'll have to look up madlax.Undertow wrote:I second Jin-Roh
And also suggest Madlax and SaiKano
SaiKano doesn't feature too much of the army and doesn't have too many warscenes, but the ones it has are placed in the modern day.
Madlax has got a great deal of those scenes, although most of the vehicles end up being blown up by one girl...
i'll look into itAshyukun wrote:MADOX-01. At least early on has a pretty good sequence with modern day tanks, even if the majority of it is about a futuristic (though closer to realistic than many) battlesuit.
i liked steamboy >.> but it's way too early...older_gohan wrote:Although somewhat disliked by a some
Steamboy is rather Good (Takes place in the 1800's but close enough to modern)
I agree with Ghost in the Shell
ohh good one >.>kitsunebeolnet wrote:Memories: Stink Bomb
