RahXephon vs Evangelion

Post by supersayian313 » Sat Dec 10, 2005 8:44 pm

i recently finished watching the rahxephon series again for the second time. i see so many similarities to evangelion. RahXephon brings something different, but it seems to follow the same formula. (this would make an interesting AMV, to show all the similarities).
for example: TERRA and NERV, Quan and Rei, Ayato and Shinji, the Angels and the D-1s, and RahXephon and the Evas.
not everything about them is alike, but as the series goes on you cant help but see them. so i guess my question is " Which one is better?" i personaly cant decide. i really enjoyed both, and thought they were well done. if you are a fan of one you really have to check out the other.

hmm... I liked both series, but I think I liked RahXephon better.
I felt kinda empty after watching the last episode of eva...like almost nothing had been resolved.
I think RahXephon was able to pull off a similar story with a better ending.
Perserving some of the mystery around the pilot and the machine while resolving the story.

evangelion all the way. I own both series and movies. Rahxephon was just so unsophisticated that its sad.

i think in RahXephon the relationships between the characters is more complex than in evangelion. but the fights in evangelion are superior to those in RahXephon.

agreed
it gets confusing when your co-worker's sister (who is your age) is the sister of your mother
*confused just thinking about looking at the RahXephon character relationship map*
although the battles in Eva are better, I liked how they played out in RahXephon (looks more sci-fi)

as for banana_boat...
if anything I think that RahXephon is more sophisticated.
The themes portrayed in both are similar, but to fully understand RahXepon requires a more mature mind (imo)

I liked both but....

I love both actually. I understood Evangelion than Rahexephon. Rahexephon was confusing to me because I did not know who that girl was in the yellow dress. I did not know what the hell was going on half the time and at the end, I find out that the girl in the yellow dress was the woman that was with him and whom he loved. I was like WHAT????? I was soooooooo confused. But I absolutely love the opening song. Its just so powerful and energetic. If only I knew what the words meant. But I loved it because......I LOVE ANIME!!! I am such a fan I don;t care if it sucks or not. I still love them. Yeah...I am crazy that way.

Far as drama's go, think of it this way. Rahxephon is the equivalent of the bold and the beautiful. Its fun, but it quickly gets stupid. Tries to take itself seriosly but the characters reactions to events are unbelievable. The pretty boy type character for ayato is also old and cliche'd. Evangelion is the equivalent of Nip/Tuck. Its real drama, because the characters are believable and feel real. You never question the characers actions because there emotions are allways genuine.

Far as art and animation go, rahxephon rips eva. Then again most anime I've seen has better art and animation than berserk, yet few come close to the depth of its story and character.
