A few questions about Please Teacher *Spoilers*

Post by EvaXephon » Mon Jan 09, 2006 9:25 pm

So, I just saw Please Teacher. I really liked it! But I've got a few questions about some things that seemed unresolved by the end of the series.

In the first episode, when Mizuho and Kei are carrying a box into the house, and the box opens, it is covered by a blur. If I recall correctly, Kei says, "Are you an alien?" right before the box opens, and after it does, he scowls at her, as if what was inside the box proved that she was an alien. In the second-to-last episode, when they were re-enacting this scene, I was hoping for the box to open again, this time without the blur - but that didn't happen =( What was inside that box?

Later in the first episode, aboard the spaceship, when Kei tells Mizuho, "I won't tell anyone your secret," she says, "Then prove it to me," and the front of her suit opens up, and she hugs Kei. When Kei asks what she's doing, she replies that her manual told her that "Earth men become weak when a woman comes on to them." Well, that scene was sexy, and all, but why did Mizuho try to make him weak? How was he going to prove that he's going to keep her secret? By proving that he won't become weak when a woman comes on to him, or something?

In the last episode, when Ichigo (little girl) and Koishi (girl who had a crush on Kei) see Kei go into the love hotel, Ichigo says, "I don't think there is any difference whether you do it in a fancy hotel, or right in the guy's room." After this, Koishi becomes extremely embarassed, and asks questions like, "Are you saying that to me? How did you know about that?" with a sexy image in the background. Does this mean that Koishi had sex with some guy in his room? I'm confused.

If anyone could please explain to me these mysteries I've always pondered, I will be eternally grateful <3

What you ask for is quite amusing to read... I, a former Please Teacher lover... Will try my best to answer your questions...

At one of the earlier ACEN Conventions, Hiroaki Gohda and the Director, Yasunori Ide answered some questions and someone asked, what the blurred [censored] items were that fell out of Mizuho's box. I quote...

"They're exactly what you think they'd be..."

Of course, everyone thinking deluded sexual innuendo in the room started laughing their asses off including myself... [in ep 13, when Hazuho is spinning a weird censored drill in her hand, you get the idea...]

For your 2nd question. It's a 'mature' thing but not too hard to understand... I think she said 'prove it' and wanted to 'manipulate' Kei sexually (I like that part) but since he's of the innocent but not immature nosebleed type of anime bishi, he ran. [and damn can he run...]

As for the 3rd question... Koishi I'm certain is a virgin. [not that I've checked myself or anything] But that's just a fanservice fix thrown in for sickos with wives like myself who love getting off on anime pr0n... So, technically she's just 'imagining' what they're doing.

Anything Else?
"Strength lies in action. Let the weak react to me..." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter from Magic: the Gathering
"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)
"I AM REBORN!" - Dark Schneider Bastard!! OAV

Holy snap. Mizuho is such a cute, innocent, polite person. I can't believe that she'd carry around a heavy box full of sex toys. That's so heartbreaking ;_;

So, in the second half of the series, Mizuho is making a big deal out of sex ("I'm not emotionally ready yet!!!!!") but, in the first episode, she's willing to manipulate Kei sexually? More out-of-character action for Mizuho.

Ah...I see. It really did seem like what was being implied was that Ichigo knew that Koishi slept with someone; Koishi is saying "Are you talking about me?" And "How did you know that?" as if Ichigo knows that she slept with someone.

:P :P hilarious. yep...link the contents of the box with the little whatever the hell it is Hazuho has at the end (OVA) and you'll see just what kind of family they are.

his own mother-in-law starts hitting on him...sleeping in kei/mizuho's bed...in only a shirt and panties, no less.

She's trying to use her guidebook to manipulate Kei into something he probably wouldn't want to do. "come over to me, kei...*whisper*so i can wipe your memory*whisper*" that's why she uses sex appeal.

later in the series, she isn't 'ready' now because she is seriously playing the part, she cares about Kei at this point, whereas before, she was willing to do anything in her power to keep herself at the position of being at Earth, as was her goal.

well, by the end of the series, especially in the last few episodes, you get the feeling that there is something between Koishi and Yamada-sensei. For Kei, who has "spent time" with a teacher himself (despite at this point him not remembering it), this most likely wouldn't seem too...farfetched. and watch the part when Yamada-sensei is on TV and flying his plane, everyone is all excited and happy-go-lucky, EXCEPT for Koishi...she's all focused and watching his every move (which Kei notices).

Then there's the part after Mizuho comes back and you get the scene where she overhears the principal asking Yamada-sensei about him being seen walking alone with one of his students (which we can almost 100% assume is Koishi).

Ichigo is rather perceptive, she was the first to realize something wasn't quite right between Kei and Koishi after she asked him out; she may very likely have noticed the 'signs' as well of Koishi and Yamada-sensei. She may be implying that she does know that Koishi is seeing someone, in sort sort of way.

Hell, when she goes to bring Yamada-sensei lunch (nighttime delivery?!) he tosses her the trophy and offers it to her...i forgot what he says at that point.

Hilarious? More like heartbreaking. ;( My perception of Mizuho...shattered!!

You think so? Well, that may be, but I don't see why it would be memory-wiping in particular.

I see. It makes a lot more sense when you explain it that way.

Ahhhhh, I can't believe I had forgotten all about Yamada-sensei. Man, did he change as the series went on. XD You're right, it very well could have been him.
ShinMasaki wrote:She may be implying that she does know that Koishi is seeing someone, in sort sort of way.
But, Ichigo was implying sex, and...Sex between Koichi and Yamada?! Oh God, my sweet little anime girls are going off and playing with sex toys and having sex with older men!! NO!! >_< I don't wanna believe it ;_;
ShinMasaki wrote:Hell, when she goes to bring Yamada-sensei lunch (nighttime delivery?!) he tosses her the trophy and offers it to her...i forgot what he says at that point.
Lunch at midnight...I never realized how odd that was before. He says that he owes her the trophy because he couldn't have built the plane if she hadn't been helping him by bringing him food. That doesn't exactly scream "Relationship"...but, yeah, the possibility is there.

man, if I had my old issue of anime insider, I'd be able to give the heads up on every episode but, if I did that, you'd probably kill me with a rusty spork.

What do you mean by that?

If you can give me the 'heads up' on unresolved events from every episode, I wouldn't want to kill you with a rusty spork, at all.

Can you tell me what issue it was or what the cover looked like? I can order a back-issue.
