Christian Anime, FMA
I know this was a topic, but I guess I wanted to post this so I could put opinion out there specifically about Full Metal Alchemist, I personally am a Christian and can't help but notice (who can) the similiarities between FMA and Christianity, I also find it ineresting that the english voice actor for Edward Elric is an avid Christian. Personally, I like the the similiarities I find in FMA and CHristianity, it helps me analyze what I really believe and such. I also think it appears in many other anime shows, and just find it highly interesting. So, yes, that is ym two pence and maybe this will allow other people who didn't get a chance to say something to say something now

It's also an allusion to the Aesclepian Wand (Not sure if I spelled that right), a sign of doctors and pharmacists for years.
Fullmetal Alchemist makes many references to Christianity, yes; part of this, I believe, is do to the fact of where FMA takes place.

The most obvious allusion to Christianity is Rose and her child, mirroring Mary, the Holy Mother, and Jesus, of Christian mythos.Spoiler wrote: FMA is set in the 19-teens, in a parallel universe, specifically the Germanic states, as well as parts of France, assumably Russia, and Arabia.

The vast majority of christian symbolism is taken from other religions and mythoses, so it's a mater of self importance and ignorance on the part of the viewer that makes everything seem that way to them.

(Just a note before i start this..I'm not Christian..or any other Religion affiliating with it..but i respect all religions so that makes my talk a bit easier...)
@EmiLang: I can see where the idea of Rose and her baby play that kind of part, but it's a little different..
@Malificus: The Flamel symbol that you see on Izumi, Al, and Ed was made with the idea in mind that there is sin in the world, yes, but it's in no way Christian. It's in the true, existing beliefs of Alchemy, which could easily be a religion on it's own due to the fact that it believes in the immortal soul, and that, if a person is able to break from the 7 Sins, then they shall become gold, or immortal. ( man is lead/metal and the immortal soul is gold..they didn't litterally try to turn lead/metal into gold.. > > ).
