shows thatend abruptly - obvious spoilers.

Shows that never, ever end.

I've been looking for some new shows to watch.. but started thinking about endings. An odd connection to be sure, but still there.

I've watched a bunch of shows now.. some of them really LONG ones with hundreds of episodes.... only to reach the last episode and realize.. it has no ending.

SO without further: Please list shows that end abruptly. Feel free to spoiler them. Some shows might as well qualify, like Naruto.. which has now officially had more filler episodes than most shows actually have episodes.
Think of this as a warning thread.

Mine:
Inuyasha - 170 episodes, 4 movies. NO resolution. Gaaaaaaah!
Berserk - One season. Ends in the worst possible way... possible.
Prince of Tennis - wait... is it still going?
Gantz - Wait... what the hell?

Elfen Lied - Just kinda ends. At least the manga was all dramatic and shit.
Dragon Half - Company went under before the last volume (2) could be released.
Hand Maid Mai - See Dragon Half.
Kare Kano - I don't know what the hell happened here. It just... stopped.
Gunslinger Girl - See Kare Kano.
Angel Sanctuary - See Kare Kano.
Battle Programmer Shirase - Funding ended.
Loveless - See Battle Programmer Shirase
Candidate for Goddess - See Kare Kano
Genshiken - I'm just plain mad they decided to just stop there.
Tenchi Muyo - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, TENCHI, PICK SOMEONE!!!
My Dear Marie - See Battle Programmer Shirase.
Sakura Wars - All but the TV series and Movie pretty much just trail off, since they're supposed to introduce/conclude video games. >.>;;
Spiral - See Kare Kano.

That's all I've got.

I've actually seen most of those! Gah, there should be some kind or warning during the intro or something:"warning the animators of this show are unable to budget and have to choose between paying rent/hookers/finishing this show"

I don't know what's worse.. when a show ends in a weird place like Genshiken <poof> Candidate <poof>, or just dies like Orguss2.

So the Elfen Lied manga handles it better? I'll take a look. I've done the berserk manga thing, and while the 'actual' ending is a real letdown (read: Dues Ex Machina) at least it moves past that low point to a new one.

For Dragon half.. I made the mistake of picking up a box titled "dragon pink" thinking it was the next part. (the artwork on the box was similar). Oops.

BPS was awesome. Cellphone hakerz.. loli fetish and those... 'accidents'. I was wondering how many, and how they were going to come up with accidents that wound them up in various sexual positions. so.. still worth it even though it died I think.

Other than all those, i'd have to point out The World Of Narue. The whole series seems to lead up to the exciting part of any other series and abruptly ends. It's like they covered the character development and interaction before heading into a sci-fi mecha-like series, but then never followed through with the twist.

Re: Candidate for Goddess
Reportedly, part of the reason for the way it ended was because the show hit a wall which is the bane of many an anime...the manga it was working with was still going and the animators did all that was available for it (supposedly, the writer had a bad habit of taking his sweet time getting the job done.)
Hell, apparently it got to such a point that even the manga never finished over there.

There WAS a 13th OVA ep made to attempt to wrap things up...but it doesn't really do much good.

Do keep in mind, Yukiru Sugisaki takes her time, but the results are good. However, when Bunny-sensei saw what had become of Candidate For Goddess, she was terrified to allow DNAngel to become an anime. The anime removes lots of the depth and character development that was in the manga. And yet, like some sort of maniac, I found myself buying all 4 DVDs.

The 13th OVA isn't in America, I hear. However, in the Japan-only released 10th anniversary collection of these books, there is a 5-part mini-story in the back, one part per manga. it's about the 13th Pro-Ing, but I'm not entirely sure what's going on, since I can't read much Japanese. However, the picture of Hiead smiling pretty with a shojo-bubbly screen tone behind him while saying "Sorry, what's wrong with me?" is pretty entertaining.

Anyway, back to the point. Even the manga didn't come to a definate end. Maybe it will, someday.

Silent Mobius and Angel Sanctuary.

Although I hear Silent Mobius has a movie that I never saw.
