My Daily Ranting : Anime = Fad?
Is it true that this " fad " may someway die in the near future?
By this question, I went towards the video game era, and realized the evoulution of the video games. I then saw that it wasn't the video games that died (you can tell by the Sony and Nintendo success), but it were those people from the past who find it as " old ". Sure, some old people may still play video games (some poor souls), but most of the adults got tired of video games that they actually left it (some have jobs, some having sex, some simply don't have the time).
So what does this all mean? Is it possible that you all may forgot about anime just as the people of the past have?
Perplexed by this question, I saw that it is quite possible that such a thing may happen. Some way or now, we all must think that ...
" All the good plots and ideas have already been used, whats the point of seeing something thats been reused!?!? " - Anyone
Ahh, but that is something that can never be changed. All stories of a certain movie follow a certain movie plot (such as the matrix) to try to create another great movie. The One tried to become another matrix, but failed by not living up to it's plot ideas. Sure the plot was unique ... but the plot just wasn't as perplexing and interesting as of that of the matrix ... so that was why many people hated on the movie ...
So what about anime? The Daily Idea : Evangelion. Ever since the success of the anime started and died (no wait its being revived), many other anime have tried to live up to its success, anime such as Dual, RahXephon, Gasaraki, but as said ... " The Original is always the best! " .. yet some anime fans like RahXephon, Gasaraki, or any type of weird ass mecha anime that can call it " The Next Eva " ... the same was said to the Matrix but always failed.
So will the next Matrix movie be good? Nope

WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!!!!
Anime will never die.
Where would you ever get the idea that gaming died in the first place? (well, you are still calling them "video games"..... which they are not cause they have AUDIO in them too. And of course there's more to playing these "video games" than just what you see!)
"All the good plots been used"? Hmm.. well it seems SOMEONE is incapable of creating.
They're are plenty of adults who play games and watch anime. But of course, the government doesn't like that, so they do whatever it takes. (jobs that take up ALOT of your time)
"So will the next Matrix movie be good? Nope" ....... I have to agree. It'll be GREAT!!!

lol video games are not video games because they have audio in them too!!!! sure whatever. Video gaming died bigtime twice so far. The first time was in 84,85 when people said been there, done that. The second time was the early 90s when every freaking game arcade or console was a fighter. It's probably going to happen again and it will become popular again also. As far as anime goes. Who cares? I hate when everybody jumps on a bandwagon because it's trendy. Us hardcore otaku will still be here just like people still collect model trains, coins and baseball cards. The stuff that is must watch and popular has been out for years and it never got me interested in anime. Anime is timeless if your trendy then thats your problem.

Having been an anime fan longer than some of the people on this board have been alive,
I have watched anime slowly grow.
It used to be that thing that only a few people have ever heard of
Then it got more and more popular... more and more people had seen at least one title.
The first Anime Expo I went to was in '96, where there were just under 5,000 attendees
Thie last Expo had over 12,000.
Anime is more and more frequently on TV
There have been DragonBall Z meals at Burger King
There's a God Damn Pokemon Breakfast Cereal!!!
Anyway....
there is also a lot of impact that anime has had on American artists, which is now effecting animation and comic books made here
and Tarantino is using anime in his next movie.
I think it will continue to grow slowly and surely.
It may hit a stagnation point, but I don't think it will ever go away.

There are two kinds of people in this world:
Those who divide people into two kinds of groups
and those who don't.

Well, if anime becomes a trend in the states and then dies out of being a trend, you'll still have all of us left over. Most people here have been into anime for some years before there was even anything available in a commercial sense. Some of us remember when fansubs were around almost exclusively for the fact that that was the only way to get translated anime.
I don't remember what it was to be an anime fan as long as Uncle Milo or some other veterans I know, but if things like the Anime Network Channel and anime on TechTV are happening because people see anime and classify it as a trend...then so what? We benefit from having anime become more plentiful and affordable.
Albeit we then get an influx of people who know nothing and may sometimes say and do stupid things about it, but all of the ones who actually stick around want to learn and have fun..not be stupid. (hey..it's almost like I am talking about the amv trend )

This statement is like the guy who said 'Anything that can be invented, has already been made'. If I recall correctly this statement was made prior to 1930. .....I don't think I need to explain my point further. All the good plots and ideas have already been used, whats the point of seeing something thats been reused!?!?

No offense clara, because you always give us good sites and other goodies that i know we all enjoy so much, but your contradictions remind me of my sister.........Clara Yuri Asaki wrote:Anime will never die.

Basically if i say, "those pants are expensive"
Your answer might be " no "
With nothing to back it up it gets really frustrating.
