I would be pragmatic and say 'the (economic) damage has been done anyway so eh'.
Whatever - but I don't suggest making AMVs with it as I'd have some concerns for the quality...

damnit... double post...
oh well..... anyway... yeah i agree... quality of bootlegs suck and make amvs made with them suck... i know someone with the dvds so i can get the source footage myself... but for those who can't afford the real deal but want to make an amv... i suggest doing the same thing... make friends with someone who does have it and borrow it. only takes a few minutes to rip the footage...

I was mostly going by the fact that it's all on one disc - reasonably speaking, they had to have squeezed the footage down, so it would certainly be inferior to the 'real thing'.Dark_Sith wrote:I agree, keep them. You must have gotten crappy bootlegs though, I have a few and the quality on them is 9/10 at least.
That said, of course you can make videos from bootleg footage and, if you're good with filtering, might even get them to look better than unfiltered 'official' DVDs, but the real question is 'why?' - all in all, you still get better quality and better conscience with official DVDs.

well the quality is actualy fairly good.... hardly noticable that two eps are better than the rest... but the probleme with making an amv with is also that... the interlace field order is haphazard... one ep keeps switching from top to bottom like 12 times... so it would make prepairing it for editing a pain in the ass...
that and its such a gip to use bootlegs... just borrow the stuff... hell if you don't know someone who has it im sure someone around here would be glad to burn you the vobs onto dvd... but ppl prolly shouldn't do it too much... not too ethicaly sound either...

Actually, that's a problem on certain legit R1 DVDs too (Excel Saga, Love Hina, etc.), but it's also very easy to fix. Use TFM with the "d2v" parameter set to the location of your D2V file, and it'll fix the file and create a new D2V file without the illegal field order transitions.batmanMG wrote:well the quality is actualy fairly good.... hardly noticable that two eps are better than the rest... but the probleme with making an amv with is also that... the interlace field order is haphazard... one ep keeps switching from top to bottom like 12 times... so it would make prepairing it for editing a pain in the ass...
