You can scratch Scryed off for decent story. It's pretty much just fighting for no good reason.

Noir or Madlax, not yet another Japan setting, not yet another endless series.

Both have 26 eps, a complex enough plot, no cheesy sex just to sell uncensored dvds.

And it's actually worth buying.
Anime, one of the few things about the internet that doesn't make me hate the internet.
