AMVs at Anime Evolution

Post by Vlad G Pohnert » Fri Nov 21, 2003 2:10 am

Even though it's early, I thought I'd bring announce that Anime Evolution In Vancouver, BC, Canada (dates should be announced soon) will once again be having a Full AMV track. As this con grows, I want to evolve the track with it and so this year I'm planning on adding some changes to both the Contest and AMV programming.

For the contest, the basic structure will be similar to last years with a panel of judges picking several winners of categories and ballot voting for an audience best as well. But I will be changing how the categories will be handled to address the number of growing videos that don't fit into the traditional ones and make it as fair as possible for any kind of AMV to compete.

I hope to have more on this in the near future. For now, I would like to get some feedback and suggestions of what can be added/done to make the AMV track more exciting and interesting to the audience. I'm working out some details on several things for it but would also like to see what people think and would like to see.

Last year the con attendance was about 1300 (First time con too!) and this year it is expected to increase greatly from there. The AMV track last year was a big success and the con is all for having it back ( :D ) so I want it to grow with the con. Also for this year I'm working on having more staff and the possibility of running it long hours or even 24 hours so this leaves a lot of time and flexibility.

The track last year was pretty good, I spent most of the con in there with Wuwu. Don't forget the mini pencils. Seriously.

THEY ARE CRUCIAL.

NEVER FORGET THE MINI PENCILS.

Cool, I'll enter something again. Anything to help support a new anime convention that caters to AMVs being shown.
