I'll withold my opinions on the AMVs since I run the contest. But on a related note, I promised somebody to give them a pic of me during the AMV contest but I stupidly forgot to get a picture, so while I doubt it, does anybody have a picture at all of that outfit?

Panel
Phoneix had a wonderful panel at the yaoi con on the cheapest way to travel to Japan for under $1000. It possible to get airline tickets to Japan for $320. Hostels and ryouken( japanese styled) for $20-30 a night. Food at night holes for $3 The best part they have doujinshi there and manga for $1(good ones). If anyone wants any links let me know.

some where
corn(an orginal from Ai no Kusabi)
shouta succers(in many doujinshi breaking them in, eh)
sausage( i dont want to know what shape)
pineapple(now that's just wrong)
popsicles( to much melting for me, but I see it)

Re: Panel
I... wouldn't recommend eating on $3 a day. I've also heard some sketchy things about the hostels and ryoukens here. Living that cheaply also requires that you already know a *lot* of Japanese coming in.Indiajanasana wrote:Phoneix had a wonderful panel at the yaoi con on the cheapest way to travel to Japan for under $1000. You can find cheap manga if you look, mostly in Akihabara, Nakano, other used bookstores. But manga's dirt cheap to begin with, compared to the US. It's actually a lot better to buy stuff 'used', incl. CDs/DVDs/video games. New CDs are generally $20-$30, new DVDs are minimum of $30 for live action and $40 for anime, and new PS2 games generally start at around $50-$60.

Just mediocre quality in general. I know there are probably good ryokan out there and that what I've heard is based on experiences of other people who have been less fortunate in their ryokan selection, but it all depends on what your tolerance level is. Obviously you aren't expecting a 4-star hotel if you're checking into a youth hostel, so if you're just looking for a roof and a bed, you'll be fine.Indiajanasana wrote:Thankyou for correcting me. What kind of sketchy things have you heard about the ryokan and hostels? I am planning a trip and don't want to many surprises when I get there.
When are you planning on coming? I'm here till April...
