Anyone going to or has been to AnimeDetour?
Me and some friend were thinking about going to Anime Detour in Bloomington, MN next year and if anyone has been there or is going, let me know. If we do go, this would be our first one. So any advise would be much appreciated.

Yep, I've been to it last year ..... it's how I found out about this whole AMV thing. I'm working on some AMVs for the contest this upcomming year. I would get a room early if you are going to stay there. Last year the hotel was full. Luckly I had a room. Also, it was cheaper to get a room at regular rates through the hotel's website than the special "Con" rate. Anyway, it rocked!

I was to both Detours and had a great time, even if I was hopping around with a broken ankle this year. This year was much improved over the first year, it is still quite a crowd in the halls. The pannel dicussions were very good, the contests went off smoothly, the guests were great, and the consuite was super. I highly recommend going, if they keep improving it will be something special, register and reserve a room early.
Another con in the area is at Marshal MN, end of May, Sogen Con http://sogencon.com/. It was a very small group last year, with all the first year faults and screw ups, but it was great fun. They had a really cheep weekend rate, a dorm room and weekend pass for $100. I hope they work out the bugs this year.

Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?

Thanks everyone. It really helps. If we do go, I don't think we'd stay at the hotel but instead find some relivies to crash with or something. The only other thing we need to worry about is how we're going to get up there and if our parents will let us (we're just juniors and sophomores in HS). We were also thinking about dressing up but we're not sure if we want to enter the contest or not or just do that hallway thing they have going. Anyone know who the guests are this year?

I don't beleive they have the list of guests yet but hopefuly Phade will come again. (yay for phade) He's been there for both, so have a few va's that will most likely be there again. Can't wait to go but don't think I'll have a good enough AMV to turn in this year which is the only downfall for me. I've wanted to submit one since the first detour. Should be a blast anyway.

You are going to LOVE IT!!!!! Around the second day we do a mall raid (run around the Mall of America in cosplay) and scare all of the "normal" people.

Oh! I plan on going to the 2006 one, I went to the one this year. I went last minute on Saturday, had to pay $50 to get in, and missed a lot of stuff, but it was fun. I think meeting Phade was a highlight, although I don't know if he will be there again. I hope to enter in the amv contest(s) and maybe get a room. If anyone is interested in getting a room PM me and we can figure it out. Oh yeah! Be warned, there be crazy people them thar hallways ^_^!
