Costs of dinner.

Post by phrea_Vicious » Wed Mar 24, 2004 1:20 pm

Isn't Hard Rock expensive? Considering I'm cheap and I know you're broke, brian, that might be a bad idea. Remember, cheap is good and also don't forget, we will be loud. A bunch of anime nerds talking loudly/yelling/etc. in a restuarant is a great way to get kicked out. Honestly, hanging in a hotel room with an huge amount of pizza might be the safest solution. I have never been to this particular hotel, but many hotels have doors that open between rooms. If that's the case, we could maybe hang in a couple rooms that are next to each other. But even if that's not the case, noise and size of the group is a major issue.

That requires finding two rooms that are next to each other. AMVers at many, many other cons have managed to pull off the dinner thing, I don't see why we can't. So what if we're loud? Restaurants in general are loud, especially places like Hard Rock...

Trust me, loud anime nerds are not welcome.

How many people do you think are going to be at this dinner? If it's more than 10, you have a serious noise problem. Let's face it, nerds like to agrue with other nerds. We will be shouting over each other to be heard, I can see it now. If we are too unruly, we will be thrown out. Oh and btw, getting two rooms together shouldn't be that hard. Isn't there a section of rooms set aside for the con? We can manage, but we have to plan this out.

The convention itself doesn't have a block of rooms that it gives to people for the sake of being communal or whatever. But still, the HRC is generally a loud environment, and I think we're all self-contained enough to be able to keep it down if we're asked =)

And yes, it all depends on how many people are going. So far, I count:

-DOKool (me)
-OFL
-phrea_Vicious
-jBone
-Marcos and Cristina (turboneko)
-Guyver2019

That's seven so far, not counting any hangers-on. I know there are plenty of other creators attending (incl. Tom the Fish, mckeed, Matt Pyson, Grover, and Ashyukun although he's staff and probably can't go, plus any that we're not aware of), so there's always the possibility of a group as large as 15-20.

Dear lord, I forgot about SPAF

Post by phrea_Vicious » Thu Mar 25, 2004 9:36 am

Yeah... he is coming with us... Well, we could save everyone the trouble of him by putting all three of our work (Otaku, SPAF, me) on one disk and then toss it at people. But as long as its well-known that you and I are separate from SPAF, that is. :P Plus, I don't feel like using all my disks. Or you and I could just share a disk and leave SPAF to fend for himself. :P You're actually gonna save 20 dollars? I'm impressed!

That idea sounds good, probally some time next week or so.
My only question about Hard Rock is the distance involved that
Dokool mentioned. Anyone got ideas on this or shall we go for a brisk
walk, which I have no probelms with :)

The other issue with Hard Rock is that it may be too crowded. Hard Rock Cafes are *always* packed, so it may not be a good idea after all...
