lol, you were there then too? (what am i saying? There were enough people in those lines that EVERYONE must have been there. We waited from 9:30 to 1:30 to get thru the pre-register lines. Next year, I am sooo going a day early to register!) It was rather horrible. But again, there was the satifaction that he got put on trenchcoat-probation. My eyes were finally given a rest.Castor Troy wrote:When Man Faye was walking down the registration lines, there was a domino effect of groans.

Another word of advice.
At AX, NEVER fall in line alone and start playing your gameboy advance.
You'll attract sniveling dorks that will look over your shoulder and make stupid know it all comments that you want to elbow them in the face.

In line right behind me was this girl who had come on her own. (she was reasonably cute I guess), the whole time there were these clouds of weird guys that kept coming up to her and hitting on her. It was like she had a sign or something, I've never seen a feeding frenzy like that. One guy kept comming up and standing really close, and then when after comparing himself to his jewish grandfather, asking about what color she painted her toenails (really), couldn't think of anything clever to say, just kept saying "I can't think of anything to say" and "Am I boring you?"Castor Troy wrote:At AX, NEVER fall in line alone and start playing your gameboy advance.

You know how, when one person in a group of people is all sweaty for no reason at all it's sort of... creepy. It was like that.
As for the gameboy, I only wish I'd thought to bring it. That line was all pure hell. What was the deal with moving the lines sideways, just to make room for yet more lines? When I went to siggraph, there were almost as many people there, but the registration process was so easy and fast that it felt like a walkthrough. Maybe the guys from AX need to take some lessons.
The anime showings were sort of funky too, as they forgot to switch shows, or showed some without subs, or whatnot.
This was my first AX, are they normally like this?
Build a man a fire, and he will be warm for a night. Set a man on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life.

With links...novablastr wrote:so when do we find out the winners of the amv contest?
BTW, these lists for AX are incomplete. I believe there are other awards to be announced (Otaku Outpost?).
A question for anyone who knows: who chooses the "Creators Favorite" ? I don't think they're doing anything like AWA's Pro contest voting. So...

I'm putting my videos up tonight so you can link Shinji's Nightmare and Shattered Dreams momentarily. PResonally I enjoyed AX this year I didn't htink it was as bad as some people say.
FYI Man Faye was banne dfrom AX thisyear. He was selling things when he shouldn't have been, being too grotesuqe (public exposure) and was starting to *ahem* fall out of his pants.
