Otakon's Saturday Otaklause Challenge.

Post by genestarwind21122 » Mon Aug 11, 2003 9:34 pm

Man being a part of the challenge was great and it was a lot of fun. That's probably one of many things I willn't forget about Otakon this year. This year I was a part of a team made up of 2 Gene Starwind's, one of them being me wearing the cape, 1 Yugi, and 1 Titus. Now in the first round if you don't rember our team went up against Lord Shinagami, a guy in a professor suit, a person in ninja suit I believe, and some person with orange goggles on. Anyway Titus on our team ended up crushing them all with out a problem. Then we moved on to the second round which was called the Dreaded Pika Pocky Poult. Anyway the sling shot we were going to use snapped when the judge was doing a demo. So we went to tossing the pikachu by its ears ,and I was the Gene catching the Pikachu, and moving the line way back. Then he said that was to easy so everyone had to drop kick the pikachu. So my friend Titus decides to put Pikachu on the ground and do a leg drop on it and guy said no no no pick up the pikachu and kick it across the room. So he kicked it and I caught it. Then Yughi kicked and I caught it barely on the edge of the border as I recall and then the other Gene kicks it and I end up losing track of the borders and started to run into the front of the crowd chasing after the Pikachu. So after our turn was up we waited and the second team got 2 catches as well and the remaining teams got only one each. So then it came down to the final round called Office Gundam Fight. In this one we had a captain the two arms and the legs. The object of this was there were three cups on three of the pegs in the front of the Gundam. The Captain sat in the office chair and the others were on the outside holding up the frame and at the same time they were all being blind folded. Which then the captains job was to shout out commands and tell the right arm how to swing the light beam. And the others which direction to go in. So I ended up being the captain since I had the loudest voice. And Titus was holding the light beam. The other Gene was the left arm guiding the gundam and Yughi were the legs. Then after the setup the fight began. I was in the Green gundam and shouted go left! left! left! left! left! left! until we did a 180. Then I told titus to swing left! right! right! But at the same time the other gundam was knocking off our cups and no sooner it began 15 seconds into the fight both gundams had no parts and the judge shouted stop the fight! And titus not hearing it still was swing the beam and hitting the other guy on the head 5 times with it. And I try to tell him to stop but broke out laughing after telling him anyways it ended up coming to a judges decsion with the elves who won. And there decsion was the blue gundam. So we lost just by a fraction of a second. But overall it was alot of fun and I wouldn't mind making a fool out of myself next year and keep the tradition of the Otaklause Challenge going. And if you are the other Gene Starwind that was a part of my team and you are reading this thankyou for everything this year. I appreciated you helping out the team when I need another member. Until then everyone out there live long the Otaklause Challenge and "YOU BETTER GET READY!"

You Otaklause people were fucking annoying, especially during that Maniacal Laughter contest when the rest of us were waiting in line for MAT3K.

Oh, and there's this thing called the "enter" key. It creates space between large blocks of text that makes them easier to understand. Try it.

Oh, is THAT what that was. Was that you guys while the masquerade line was going on, too? I'd just had coffee and kept growling about how I was going to push all of you off the balcony. I get edgy like that. :D

You didn't look all that edgy.

What really bugged me was that staffer that kept yelling "MSTT3!!" over and over and over in the MAT3K line. I mean... he didn't get the letters right and he had this really annoying voice. What also bugged me was that I had no idea when they were announcing the AMV winners, I thought it was after the Masquerade awards.

Hardy har. ;)

But that's why there's me, the AMV Results Fairy, who brings the AMV results to all the good AMVing boys and girls of Otakon. 8)

I figured they put the AMV results first so as to fill the time while the cosplay judges were judging.

Indeed they did. This is what's called the "halftime show" and is something done to entertain the audience while the judges are off choosing the winners. Sometimes it's the AMV awards (like at Otakon), but more often it's a game show where people (usually the staff and/or guests) make fun of themselves for half an hour (like at Katsucon).

Once again this year I got to abuse the Pikachu during the challenge by having one of the elves hand me the Pikachu after our last kick and kick it straight up into the celling where it made a loud bang.

I was the Toboe on the winning team. It was fun being annoying, the guy wanted to kill me (he didn't know I was being in character ^___^)

Yeah you did do that. Man it was halrious seeing that s.o.b., that stole all of my cards, get slaughtered by you. Man I wish it would have been me instead dancing against him. But then hell might have broken loose. So it was best that you did.
