Kazecon... at long last

Post by kurosuke » Fri Aug 22, 2003 1:49 pm

Well folks, I would like to start by apologizing in advance for not having the rules for the Kazecon AMV contest posted in a timely manner. We were having some issues with our old webpage and the speed of it's update, however we've got a new page design and lots more information now. So yay!

Anyway, the rules for our AMV are up there. We're trying something a little different than I've seen (don't know if it's been done, though) we're going to try to VJ the AMV contest this year. It's experimental and we're not sure if it's going to work but I have every confidence that the guy doing the VJ work will be top notch and that we'll do our best to make it enjoyable for all.

This is where I hope you guys can help, since the idea of VJed AMVs is a fairly unique idea (at least to conventions I have attended) I'd like to get an idea of what you guys think we need to do to make it as good as it can get. Let me know if you have any idea or questions and I'll eb sure to answer in a timely fashion...

When you say VJ, do you mean Kurt Loder style VJ? Or do you mean more of an Emcee style VJ?

Doesn't sound half bad though.

Think more Kurt Loder parody and you'll be 90% of the way there.

It should be a blast. It will be a very fun experiment. It's best to have something different that not every convention has.

But anybody wants to have their amv playing at the con, they still have time to get them in. The basic rules are at http://www.kazecon.com under the events section.

Any general questions about the contest can be directed at Dave (kurosuke). Dave is the person who has the details. If you have any question on file formats or encoding issues I am slightly more knowledgeable in that department and am willing to help out as much as possible.

Well, I suppose it is due time we announced what our best in show prize will be for the amv contest....

Best in show will be a DVD R-drive (which will be mac and PC compatible, mac users just need their own software) along with a few starter disks.

So what does everyone think of that as a main prize?
