Three anime conventions in California for 2009

Post by ultimateX021 » Tue Jan 13, 2009 9:18 pm

Anybody planning to attend all or one of these three anime conventions in California? My brother and I think about going to one or at least two of them. I chose these ones because they have AMV contests and I would love to greet fellow creators and watch their vids on screen.

[*]FanimeCon - May 22 - 25 in San Jose
[*]Anime Expo - July 2 - 5 in Los Angeles
[*]Autumn Dream - October 16 - 18 in Lancaster

My bro just told me about another convention we would like to consider, Animation On Display, but I'm doubtful on whether it has anime viewing; Plus, the website doesn't reveal any AMV viewing so most likely this is the unlucky candidate.

Although, the site says that there will be the latest animation viewing and such, I would like to know also (Not ignoring my last question, just adding another one) if anyone has ever been to this convention before? I'm trying to find out about the anime viewing and such. I already tried getting contact info, but I have to login somewhere else.

Well, if that hotel ain't available, I'll probably look for some other ones that aren't too far, but in the meantime, what other hotels are nearby?

Yaoi-Con has an AMV contest too. I think it's held in San Jose?

I'm curious if you or your friend knows how much it costs in some areas of a hotel. I've already checked the hotel's website and found out how much it is to reserve a room. I think the costs of rooms depends on how many people will need the room. For example, one hotel says $99 single for one person, $99 double for two people and so on. Does that mean the costs will double or more depending on the number of people that need a room?

Also, most hotels have a restaurant. Will that have a cost or will it be free? (I haven't stayed at a hotel myself since my parents took my siblings and I on a trip, where we stayed in a short hotel.)

when i stayed in a hotel at AX we payed like $70+ per person for 4 nights. we had 4 people in the room. but im a bit unsure of how it really works.

as for restaurants, it aint free. gotta pay like all other restaurants.

btw im not sure about Fanime. my friends and i canceled the trip so i didnt look up any hotel nearby
