For the most part, I don't want an AMV to just remind me of an anime, I want to see something new done with it.
Why use the anime in the first place if it's not to connect with what the audience is familiar with (even if its to take them out of context)? That's what takes it out of the AMV realm for me, to just being digital art, the lack of connection.
So basically, you're only looking at the familiar art-style and not necessarily the anime and the emotions it carries?
