Hosting question

Post by 8th-ShichinintaiDEL » Fri May 25, 2007 3:49 am

I'd like to thank everyone who's helped me compress my movie in the past few days; I finally got it into both avi(xvid) and mp4(h.264) format, and it looks great. Woot! And these editing guides were really awesome, once i took the time to read them.

Only problem though, my movie isn't an amv. It's a dubbing parody, using anime footage and home-recorded voices. So, I assume that animemusicvideos.org won't let me host it here, since rule #1 is "music videos only."

Does anyone know where I can host an anime parody that is not a music video? (Already planning to upload it to youtube and similar sites)

Mhmm... Parody is parody with anime. I don´t know the anime, but in my eyes it could be the right place here.

You can present your XviD at stage6.com, where people can watch and download your amv in the same quality.

I don´t know, but it´s not bad. The poster has to think more about what he postes. There are edit-button at other forums like the announcment forum.
You can find me on YT under "Bauzi514". Subscribe to never miss my AMV releases. :amv:

Mm, I guess, I'm just too used to forums where I can edit after I change my mind 30 seconds after I hit "submit." lol...

I'd like to upload it here if they'd let me. Do you know if there is there anyone official I can ask of for permission?

1) Upload the video tot he file sharing site of your choice.
2) Email the link to admin@animemusicvideos.org asking if it's acceptable for local hosting.
3) Send a bribe of $50 and a short note explaining you're donating in godix's name to:
AnimeMusicVideos.org
P.O.Box 5676
Concord, NC 28027
(if you're female and of legal age, nude pics might work as a bribe instead)
4)Wait awhile, especially since it's con season right now so a response may be slow in coming.

Last I heard fan parodies were a gray area that are judged on a case by case basis so who knows what the response will be.

The Vault also hosts a few parody works among other things, pass along the link to Minion while your at it.

I'd like to remind everyone that "This Is Otakudom" has had an info page here for many years.

Therefore, I'd say it's safe to say that it's okay to at least enter fan parodies into the database. Now actually hosting them, I don't know.

are you dubbing over one contiguous video segment or did you re-edit the video footage significantly?

if the former, then that sounds more like a fan-dub and doesn't really belong on the org. if the latter, that should be okay. non-music audio sources (like trailer audio, self-recorded audio) are allowed, but the intent is to host something along the lines of an AMV.

Since everyone seems to be giving me examples why animemusicvideos.org could possibly host me, it seems that I won't anger the masses by uploading here and then seeing what happens. I think I'll upload to livevideo, youtube, stage6, veoh?, first, then upload here and send an email to admin@animemusicvideos.org to ask if its okay. If not, they'll take it down, and I'll keep looking. And I'll consider sending the link to Minion too.

It is re-edited significantly, with more scene mixing, lip-synching, (simple) video effects and photoshopped-frames than I ever tried using when I made half-an-amv (<Windows Movie Maker creativity) a while ago. (hiatus due to frustration over lack of raw eps...)

This is 8th-Shichinintai, under the name I will be distributing under (i.e. it matches my icon.) Just announcing the name change, in case anyone wants to judge if my parody is worthy enough to stand among AMVs. lol...

I also uploaded it to all the aforementioned sites.
