weird pixelation with .ogm and vdubmod

OK i got done my "vdub wont play .ogm" thing.

but a new problem has popped up.

the .ogm when played in a normal video player (media player classic, VLC, etc) is beautiful....nothing wrong with it what so ever.

but when the same video is played in vdubmod every time there is a quick movement, scene change or flash in the video the video will become pixelated and will also capture that way as well.

anyone know why this is? any way around of it?

I'd think it had to do with errors in encoding (or lots of shortcuts taken in the encoding process to get a small filesize quickly) that the media players fix on playback.

The most obvious solution is to stop using fansubs and buy the DVDs.

maybe. and id love ta....if i had the moneys atm. i live alone = poor.

As a matter of principle we don't accept those kinds of excuses here as valid reasons - so don't try to validate your actions... we really don't care why.

are you running your source through an avisynth script? [some scripts don't handle transitions very well]

are you converting your source directly? [works best to convert everything to something lossless first, then re-compressing]

I ran it through with it AND without it. still crappy. but i think i found a good source now. so all is good *knock on wood*

Options menu --> Preferences... --> Main tab --> make sure "Output color depth" is set to "Use output setting".

For some reason, VDubMod displays 16-bit video by default (which is admittedly faster), which has made a lot of people think their videos are noisier than they really are.

I should add that your Windows display settings have to be set to 32-bit color for this to have any effect, but I'm pretty sure that's the default these days, unless your computer is seriously old and seriously crap.

If this wasn't the problem, then I have no idea.
