AWA 8 Documentary and final thoughts
OK, Let me make this perfectly clear everyone. I've had plenty of IMs and Emails about this subject so left me make things clear for everyone about the AWA8 Doc Situation.
Please note, I'm just rather upset right now because of alot of stress. I'm not here to point fingers or call out names. I just want to set this straight with everyone on the AWA doc
Origianlly, I had intended to make an AWA doc as one of my final Documentary Projects. Unfortuantly, because of the incidents regarding the Akon doc, things changed. Several factors as well as after several AMV creators themselves were warning me of the possible scenarios that might happen if I did make a doc. I was still at a loss of what to do.
I brought my camera anyway because I was going to help Vlad out with the DDR doc since he asked me to back when we met at AX. I myself was still a bit weary about it because of several things that had taken place before AWA.
Hence when I arrived, I wasnt sure what to do and or if people woudl be angry if I pulled out my camera, thus it stayed in my backpack so as not to make anyone mad.
Most of the footage I got was DDR and DDR aftermath and Iron Chef. I never pulled out my camera for any other times because I didnt want to make any enemies at AWA. Everyone I had already met I was cool with and didnt want to endanger that because I was having alot of fun with everyone and since no one was giving me a hard time about the Akon doc...I didnt want to do anythign stupid thus I hardly recorded anyone.
But now, Ive had several people IM and Email me concerning the future of the doc. College has kept me so busy that I havent had time to think. I never really came out and said there would be a doc or no Doc.
Will there be an AWA8 Documentary?
I dont know. From all that I heard, David Violence is making his own AWA Documentary. He took his own camera and recorded his own thing.
Talk to David about what he is going to do.
Is MindWarp, Random Variable , or Hypeodermic plannig on releasing an AWA doc or any other docs?
The answer is No.
Are we associated with David Violence's AWA doc?
No, David filmed all his own thing.
Now this is just me talking.
-------------------------------
The Documentary Project is offically dead. No more Cons will be filmed anymore. At least not by me. If anyone wants to pick up the pieces of where the Documentary Idea died, be my guest.
I am now offically retired from the Documentary making of Conventions.
Ok I know this post probably has a lot of weird feelings in it, so I apologize if things are bad in it. I'm just a little stressed out because of classes in college as well as several other personal factors on my mind right now.
Closing Thoughts
--------------------
Was the Documentary Project suppose to be a fun project for me and for everyone to enjoy?
Yes
Did it end up the way I wanted it to?
No. In the end, all I felt was guilt. I didnt think of the consequences for several of my actions and thus none of it felt right in the end. People fought against one another because of the footage and remarks that were said and things exploded in several different cases.
So I apologize to everyone who was a part of these Docs who didnt want to be in the first place. This applies to all of the Documentaries because I did film alot of people without concent.
I guess thats al I have to say about this....
Again, I'm not pointing fingers or naming names to save face. I'm telling everyone how I feel about this situation and apologizing for all the actions that were done in them.

Hey, I guess I'll be the first to say that the three Docs that did get made were great and gave me a excellent view of Con culture. I was even mentioned in the AX one - so loved.
Anyways, it sucks that there won't be another one, since you and MJ are a dynamite duo together and do all sorts of crazy & ENTERTAINING stuff. But yeah, it was getting a little out of hand there what with everyone on one side of the room and everyone else on the other. Let's hope you didn't get any assasination threats when going to AWA.
Anyways good job on all of them, even the lackluster AX was enjoyable, and good luck w/ life ;p

Hey Carlos, hey everyone else.
Man, you sound quite stressed with college and everything that has become assosiated with it - [rightfully so I'll add]
I don't blame you for anything you've done to anyone in the past and much less anything you've managed to catch on film and smear across the internet from an anime convention. And noone else should either.
As wonka put it very eloquently in whats soon to be chapter 4 of the awa doc:
"We drove across the country to watch cartoons, man."
---
I guess what I'm here to say is yes code : white is going to be publishing an Anime weekend Atlanta convention documentary. I shot all of the footage myself, and with over 4 hours of tape, I had more than enough footage to get done what I think will capture my experience for the weekend.
It's hystericalm I think. Everyone who has seen the footage thus far knows what I got is what I wanted to get. As you know carlos, it runs in the same vein that yours have.
The legendary ushicon video. The video that inspiried me to COME to awa this year - to meet you, to meet all of these creators, to meet new people, to finally meet some internet friends, and to shoot as much footage as I could.
I have time. Alot of time in fact.
I don't have the stress-filled life of college in my immediate future.
I don't have a job to worry about [well I do have to worry about it, it's just now I'm balancing my time a bit more since SEEKING employment is just as important as going to work ]
And I don't have a relationship with anyone right now to also eat up my time, or my energy.
This allows me to work with the footage I have and produce what I think does my other videos justice. And hopefully you will veiw the final product and tell me what you think.
---
please don't over work yourself by thinking you have an obligation to help me with this if you dont want to or cannot. I will credit you for all of the advice, inspiration, and kind words you have given me up to this point regaurdless.
It's nice to hear you have prioritized and made the descision to focus exclusively on school and personal things until you have the time and mind to perhaps one day return to the video scene.
You will forever reign as grandmaster as far as I'm concerned and I wouldn't worry about me stealing your thunder or anything esle for that matter.
Take care of yourself, and as far as everyone else -
Get you and your friends prepared for AWA 8 - hosted by David Violence and his worthy constituates!

8) No problems here Carlos (I'm sure you were worried about what I thought in the first place )...I've enjoyed what I have seen of your docs, but it's quite understandable on your reasons you listed on why there won't be one from you this time...
I do look forward to seeing David's though..at least since I wasn't there this year..I can see what I missed...lol....*like I haven't figured all that out already *

Machine, you & tha crew did a great job on the docs you produced, thanks very much for those.
I'm sorry there won't be another from you, but hey, it sounds like you have your priorities straight. (If its no fun, and causing you stress, sheesh, of course don't do it)
What you gave us was enough. I'm sure others will be inspired to pick up the torch & carry it. Good luck with school & all.
Now I'll look forward to David Violence's doc. Just the AWA thread & pics alone have me wanting to come next year. 8)
