Looking for beasties

Oh, and I haven't seen the TV series, but there are some beasts/monsters in the Moeyo Ken OVA, including a wanyuudou (a flaming wheel monster) in the first episode. There is also Tactics, an anime with traditional Japanese monsters such as oni and tengu. It's been a while since I've watched it and I've only seen the first five episodes but it could help. However, most of the monsters I remember were on the humanoid side, so it might not be as much use to you. I know there's a humanoid ice-element monster, though, the yuki-onna.

I'm astounded no one mentioned this. Inuyasha has Sesshomaru for Ice, the Thunder brothers for lightning and it has plenty of weird insect demons. Only thing you'd need to find then is a bear.

Seshomaru uses ice? Didn't know that

Blanca from Street Fighter is very fond of lightning, but I guess that's technically not anime, eh...?

Arjuna has some gentle scenes of insects in a natural environment, though.
