The manga is still on going, though I've heard that the mangaka knows exactly how she wants the series to end.

But yeah that's what i mean. " Why did they stay in Germany?"

Random question asked have they finished the manga series yet? :? didn't quite keep track of that...
They stayed in Germany because Ed needed to go back in order to close the gate, and Al wanted to stay with him. Personally, I rather like the bitter-sweet ending. It's not a Disney ending, I hate it when everything turns out 100% ok in the end, it's so unrealistic.

And yes, the manga is still going. They're up to chapter 72 so far in Japan, one chapter released per month.
You ought to check it out, it's better than the anime, IMO.

I like it because of the endless comedic expressions and never ending supply of blood.

The manga is definitely more upbeat than the anime. And we get to meet people from beyond the eastern desert! They're silly.

Oh! I see. I would have liked it better if they didn't stay in Germany. And if Alfons Heiderich didn't die.
But if it went like that...it wouldn't be the same movie... I liked it tho...Good Movie!! :D

I do see how it's more upbeat but from what I read so far, I did prefer the anime. I like their interpretation of how a Homunculus is born better. (And quite frankly, some of my favorite characters got much more attention in the anime.)

Like Hughes, right? I do see the point there. And turning the extras at the back of the manga collections into independent episodes in the anime was a stroke of genius on the part of the animators. Episode 13 is my favorite. (That is the one with that big battle between Ed and Mustang, right?)

Yep.

I must say though, while the manga may leave some characters out a little more than in the anime, it focuses on others MUCH more. I love Winry in the manga, and the relationship between she and Ed is SO much more pronounced. (Check out the AMV in my sig if you don't believe me.)
Also, we get that awesome
Spoiler :
Roy vs. Lust
fight. Holy god. That was hardcore. I would have paid a great deal of money to see that animated.

AMAZING fight.

as far as the movie......I sorta wish they stayed in Amestris because 1)it would be SO much easier on my fanfics (lol) and 2) it would keep a tiny possibility open for another adventure(?) though that might not be such a good idea......fullmetal would become like the immortal pokemon......(though Ed never kept the body he got back, so the quest would probably be about that.)

I also wish that Heidrich got more screen time.......like some follow-up episodes of some side characters--maybe like Roy, or Alphonse, along with some other-world stuff, like how Ed's limbs are different from automail, how he and Heidrich met up, ect.

I don't mind Heidrich dying, and they kept his body on-screen (like the Saw trilogy!! lol) but jeez! more screentime!!(please!!!)
whats kainda funny is that Ed's 5'6", and he's taller than me. ............and he's called short..............*sigh*
