It was licesned a long time ago. Viz has been releasing epsidoes for download over some net service for ages (think they're on episode six or so now) and strickley subtitled on the downloads.

Besides I'm glad it's been licensed, I'm sick and tired of fansubbers translating Shinigami as death god which isn't accurate as the manga ka has actually admitted.

Old news is sooo exciting...

Viz was the reason the only good group that had been subbing Death Note stopped doing so... around episode 12. All the others are either crappy or late, and none of them uses the gothic-fonted L, N and W like the good one.

Ah, in the world of DUAL-AUDIO dvds, we STILL have people whining how a dub can ruin the anime...

Ah geez...

Nobody should give a rats buttocks about whether anime is subbed or dubbed anymore. What do you watch? VHS?!

Whether this is good news or bad news is up to you.
Death Note has been licensed for America.
And a trailer has been released.

I absolutely dispise the voices they chose.
This realizes one of my worst fears.
Like so many excelent animes, Death Note has been ruined upon coming to America.
Those voices do sound REALLY bad... I just hope that when the American DVDs come out they'll keep the Japanese audio track in...

If they don't include BOTH tracks...

I can't see why they wouldn't considering that they've been releasing the show online all this time in sub only format.

Kira's one heartless fucker in 35. It's been picked up again though, so at least those watching fansubs will see it to the end. Or perhaps just 36.

Really? I haven't found it yet. I was about to give up too, since I already read the manga anyways.

37 will be the last one, right?

Ruberia I think it is, they're not great, nor even all that good, but it's a hell of a lot better than watching raws with my limited understanding of japanese.
