Don´t make me cry... Well ok I´m sure you can fix it. You just need to know what you could improve ;)

~00:01 Is ok. Maybe brighter colours?
Yes the smaller clips need feathured edges (uhm... If you know how to do them in Premiere or AE: Please tell me ^^' ) and be aware that they often cover important things in the background. You use AE so I don´t see a problem here. Add the clips in AE and set the layerproperities (or how it´s called in English) to Add or soft light or at least: Set a transperency
00:09 Wohooo! Some coalminers. The happiest people on earth!!! I think you get it... Happy is with people smiling etc and not working xD
00:16 Can you highlight the fireflies with AE?
00:24 Yeah you really need colour correction. It looks too average this way.

00:09+00:12
Imagine the girl is in the front the background (skies) lays in the back and in the middle a few scenes that are mixed together in a nice colourful way. Would be cool

I hear a thing that you could sync to at the end of the songpiece. Something like a radial blur or a good glow (I said good and not cheesy stuff you get as default effect) or just a simpel fade in of a white image or something special.

Keep up.

Kariudo:

Hmm. First of all, feathered edges on the boxes. Please. You may want to consider making them semi-transparent or blending them with the background scenes. I'd highly suggest syncing the appearance of the boxes to the bass beats, because there's no rhythm to them right now. Don't hard-cut the boxes out, it looks better if you fade them instead. It looks pretty happy, but Kaxi and Bauzi have already covered that, so listen to them.

I also agree with Greg that if you wanna do effects like that, you're gonna have to put a lot more effort into making them look unique.

that tunnel in the beginning is for the transition (not custom, grabbed it from my source), after I get some idea of what aerialesque is doing I might do some more stuff with that.

as for more "eye pleasing" stuff uhh...no, not really (at least not that I know of).

feathered boxes are easy, they are synced to the lyrics right now...so in regards to one of the questions I want answered, should I get rid of internal sync there? (throughout the segment, the small boxes.)

color changes? what about color changes? (all I got is that I should use them...you know, usually a general idea of where they should be applied helps)
Bauzi, not too sure what you mean by it looking "too average" at :24, I could try to make the lights at :16 brighter (as long as I don't have to do an inhuman ammount of masking)

whaddaya mean coalminers aren't happy? just take a look at the face of that one guy. Happy as can be. (oh yeah, they're construction workers)

I didn't really get answers to most of my questions...I haven't done happy before, tell me where the not-so-happy is and I can work on it.
I know the effects are simple as is, but if I need to make any changes in the footage I'd like to do that before making elaborate effects

Hmm... It seemed like it needed more stuff going on, but I had no qualms with the scene selection you did have. Those construction workers seemed like they were having a good enough time to me. =D The flow and timing of the background scenes were very appropriate, but the foreground scenes in the boxes didn't seem upbeat enough, or fast enough maybe. My impression is that it didn't fit to the driving force of that part of the song. Specifically I'd say that applies to anything before :19. i.e. sweeping, looking through the wall, etc. All could have been sped up, that section needs some work.

I won't say too much about the effects as that part is probably gonna change the most, although at :30 the scene changes all in one same size box was kinda weak. Maybe have the box get bigger? Or move it around?

Am I being specific enough? For some reason I don't think that I am. =/
Oh well, let me know if I'm not.

Unique. Not necessarily elaborate. Unique.

With AE and Premiere/Vegas, you've got a huge toolset to take advantage of, and you can make a really cool effect in about 5 minutes, if you find the inspiration.

more like 30 seconds in vegas :?

I'll start my project after i get a external HD and monitor to hook up to my lappie.
So that should be about in a week or so.

Take it easy on her guys, it's a early beta, i'm sure it'll be fine. I'm more worried about bauzi and kaxi, somebody needs to teach those two how to edit

but a few things Kariudo, i'd go the chroma instead of cookie cutters, in scenes like at :08 and :11, use it on the blue sky and that should look uber cook. and it would look MONDO cool if you did some sort of color synch to the tunnel at the beginning. maybe just using purple/blue/violet. Just some suggestions.

and you use adobe right? doesn't it have that cool 'star' effect? that'd look kinda cool.

Also my sister is getting married today! :D Do i get to wear a tux, which it look totally sexy in 8-)

@Karidu:
is it "happy"? (I realized after I told sky I'd join that I hadn't done a happy vid yet)
What is happy? k... let me explain it: My avatars are it xD
jk I know it is hard to make it happy with this song. When I listen to eat my mind hits me with a hammer while saying "drama drama drama". I don´t associate something happy with the first song. More romance, but not happy. To be honest: I would really need to try hard to make it look happy there.

let´s analyse scenes!
00:06
-left top corner
Little chick dancing full of drugs in disco. jk
OK I haven´t seen the anime. She looks like a girl that´s kinda dancing or whatever. She´s kinda waiting hopefully for something. There is a lot of drama in her eyes. --> Not happy

-middle
Yes this is happy. Sense of love in the air :3
The middle scene at 00:05 is ok in my eyes too

-right down corner
can´t see something from her, can´t say something

-background
Absolutly ok. I think about thoughtful scenes at the background (like you did) and about happy things or romance thigns that she and this guy had as smaller clips in the front.

00:09
-middle
Yes he´s smiling, but what the fuck? He looks like a countless coal miner. He would be a NPC of a mass in an RPG.

00:10
-middle
Aha... he is waving to the music? Sry: wtf - feeling for me.

00:12
-background
Fun and joy in her face while she does something. This is happy

~00:15
-middle
ok they to something together, but... what´s left? I mean... he cleans something looks threw a hole and that get´s a bit shocked and that´s it. If they would laught together at the end, because of it or something else "happy", it would make sense.
Now... it´s like a joke without punchline.

-background
it´s good

00:21
-front scenes
ok it could be that it is timed correctly. I don´t know and can´t say it. I think that this resizing (ah... blame my English, but you know what I mean) is disturbing. Simpel fades ins to "Calling - your - name" would be better in my eyes, but show me the contrary =P

-background
I don´t know. A motorcycle is comeing and you don´t see who it is. Isn´t too bad, but I think it has a better effect, if you would see the person

00:22
-background
Damn it. The way she hugs me is happy yes, but this guy screws it with his shocked look. I think it can work so I don´t give up this scene.

-clips
ok he lights up the candles (maybe for her?), BUT you don´t show her long enough to give the viewer a clue. Show her longer with the passion in her eyes. You don´t have to hard cut her out so fast. Keep it there and fade it out slower or whatever you would like to do.

00:27
-background
I see happy faces. Good so

-clips
She saves him. I think it´s good, but show the final scene for longer

The rest (final)
If you only think about the scenes: It´s ok in my eyes
do the switches I make between external and interal sync work, or should I work on that?
I don´t understand the grammar in this sentence. Can a native speaker please answer the question? I don´t have an idea.
any advice for effects I should try to pull off? (using after effects 6.5 pro)
I think you should try to create your own custom fade in/out effect for your scenes you put into the front.
Bauzi, not too sure what you mean by it looking "too average" at :24, I could try to make the lights at :16 brighter (as long as I don't have to do an inhuman ammount of masking)
I´m nitpicky at some things. "Too average": Some amvs just look like all the others with the same footage. There is nothing special about them and a own colour setting could be the character of an amv.

--> Awesome colours. Just looks great. AE is like Photoshop, but just for movies. All the things (I think so) the wallpaper maker do, you can do in AE with videos. I recommend to read wallpaper tutorials, but to bring up the next point:

You see the special colour settings? Damn I hate it to don´t know how to do it, but well it´s an example on how you can make footage look more interessting. A lot of mads give good examples to:
http://stage6.divx.com/Japanese-Mad-Mov ... ve/videos/

The MADs are a extreme example, but you know now what I mean.
I could try to make the lights at :16 brighter (as long as I don't have to do an inhuman ammount of masking)
Lights + contrast do a lot of things. Play a bit with the layer properities in AE too (Add, soft light, hard light...)
Take it easy on her guys, it's a early beta, i'm sure it'll be fine.
I believe in it too
