Huh? Each movie would have to be around 2 and a half hours to just equal the amount of screen time in the 26 episode series. And that's assuming you count all four movies but really the series is being retold in the first 3 movies and the fourth is yet another new ending so really there's less screen time in the movies than the TV series had.Scintilla wrote:but honestly, just the fact that Kaoru's going to be in it is enough for me. I can't wait to see what they do with his character now that they've got so much more screen time in which to develop him. ^____^
Personally I'm just hoping Anno *FINALLY* figures out how to tell the story he wants to. I think it's clear that between the three different tellings the story has had already that he kept stumbling around going 'I know what I want to say I just can't figure out how to say it'. Hopefully he's finally figured it out the fourth time around.

Personally I'm not overly optimistic about these just yet. I've gotten a little wary of Gainax, even while they're not milking Eva, in the past few years. Though I'll probably end up checking them out as I expect that, if nothing else, the animation should be very nice (they've gotta have a decent budget, as returns on it are virtually a guarantee).
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Even if he only shows up in three movies and each movie is only 1.5 hours long, I figure he's still got to show up for more than the, what, 13 minutes he had in the TV series?godix wrote:Huh? I don't suppose it makes you feel better that I've read somewhere that this is actually being done not by GAiNAX proper but by a new side project company.Otohiko wrote:Personally I'm not overly optimistic about these just yet. Meh.
Meh! What's up with all the meh's? Anywho, I thought the movies were great, despite hardly understanding it. ^^; (Meaning, Death and Rebirth/ the End of Evangelion.) 'Course, I'm sure if I watched the actual show, I'd understand more. >.> But anyway, back to the topic. Does anyone know when these movies come out in English? They just sound so kool! >,<

I've a lot higher hopes for Rebuild than I do live action, but we'll just have to see. I dunno about "can't wait," but yes, I really want to see what they do with this. As for live action, it's gonna blow. I'll still go see it, but it's gonna blow. Even with weta effects whoring it up (it'll be nice to see what they come up with) I don't think the screenwriting is gonna be that great, nor the acting, nor the directing. I could be wrong, but again, we'll see.

I'm with Scintilla. Kaworu is the only thing that keeps me interested, although if my grandchildren get married before the movie comes out, I wouldn't think it late. Not after the huge delays the manga has been going through.
And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.
