Editing on Vista

Post by GreenT » Tue Jul 17, 2007 9:01 pm

Hey, I'm going to be purchasing a new laptop near the end of the summer holidays, and I was just wondering if I'd still be able to edit on Adobe Premiere 6.5 and Adobe After Effects 6.5 Pro? If Premiere wouldn't work, would I have to buy a copy like Premiere Pro 2?

I have heard that Premiere 6.5 doesn't work in vista. You might want to wait on confirmation from someone else though.

I tried both ae 7 pro and 6.5 pro on vista. works fine, does not outrun all those other disadvantages tho...
as for premiere, never used it

According to Adobe, the only programs they CLAIM to be Vista compatible are the new CS3 series. From what I've searched on the web, I've heard that Premiere 6.5 - 2.0 likely won't work. Though you might have a better chance with the latter Premieres like 1.5 or 2.0 but i wouldn't bank on it. :?

Bleh, I might have to get Premiere CS3 then...Oh well, it's good to know now instead of finding out when I have the laptop. Thanks much.

I just got some information saying that premiere 6.5 might run if you set it to windows xp compatability mode in vista.

It depends on the system. I know 6.5 couldn't be installed my x64 XP computer, even in Win2K mode, because the installer is simply not compatible. It's a known issue that Adobe has no intention of fixing.

You might want to look into that first.

Well, I'll try it out first when I get the laptop. Thanks for the more information.
