Best Free Effects?

I already have WMM, but as you all know, it's lacking in the effects department. If all of you would be so kind, please inform me of any FREE video editing programs with better effects than WMM (I don't want to pay any money). I have some ideas for my next AMV that just won't work out if I only use WMM. Thanks a lot

it helps to know what kind of "effect" you are wanting to do in order to recommend a program... there might be a few free ones out there, but they might not have the options you want

plus most of the GOOD effects programs you will want to pay money for

Wax is a pretty nifty program, IF you can figure out how to use it. You can make effects on your video in it, and then import the videos you render out of Wax into WMM.
