I don't quite understand what you're saying.. But if you mean how to play MP4 files, then I would suggest you to download VLC Player - it plays pretty much everything on the .org .

If you want to extract footage from MP4 containers and edit with them, then I guess you should just use AviSynth and DirectShowSource those files of yours..

Install ffdshow and you will be able to play/convert most MP4 files. You will need an MP4 converter like MeGUI or 3GP video converter or do a google search on mp4 to avi or wmv converter. Personally, I use TmpGenc Xpress, which is perhaps the best media converter around (but is not free :P).

well anything that it will work i will grab it ^__^ tho hope it isn't too expensive like adobe premier or sony vegas 07.... My only budget as for now is less $300- as editing program or video converter.

Thank you so much :) :) :) :)

@Rapture**:

I didn't mean to say play it on video player...... I say video codec or convert it into different format of the video so I can start do editing once again :D

Yep, definately another one...

How about NOT using downloaded anime to do your editing and use dvds instead as mentioned in the guides?

You won't have to deal with this problem in that case...
Thou shalt not use downloaded video footage to make AMVs.
Hmmm, does anyone read the forum rules?

I don't think that using downloaded footage is really a pain. I made my dirty Ichigo from worst footage I had - and just a little glow and a bit of AviSynth made it look really neat (not that I think so myself,KholdStare even said that it's DVD footage..). So what I'm saying - AviSyth (even if it will be heavy work) can improve footage. Besides if you look trough the guides, you'll notice that they're just RECOMMENDING DVD footage, and saying that if you're using downloaded footage, leave it as a last resort.

(I've separated answers to your post by these colors - red for buying DVDs,and indigo for reading of forum rules and using downloaded footage.)

You see, this has nothing to do with what I believe personally, but with being a member of a team and abiding by the rules the team has set.

As to what I quoted, it is no.2 in The AnimeMusicVideos.org Code of Ethics, not something I made up...

There has been a big discussion on using d/l footage or not, more than once, with diferent opinions. I personally find it more ethical to use original dvds, but then again it is just my personal opinion.

My budget is also limited, this is why I don't make amvs (I have only made one) and wait instead to find my resources before making another one. I use d/l footage to experiment, test techiques etc but not publish my work.

I understand the urge to actually make somenting with what limited resources you might have, but then again I see threads like "I d/l these clips and I want to make an amv, how do I do that?", all the time...

Maybe it is not for me to judge, but for the mods instead...

By the way,
Ch3aLs3A L!n@ to prove I don't have anything personal with anyone on the .org

take a look at this guide

it uses the MKVEXtractGUI which can be found here

If the guide didn't help you, try using SUPER

It converts many formats (including mp4) and it's free so it will not affect your budget
