Having problems... probably Vista ><;;

Well, I don't the it's the BSOD... all of the processes work fine, which is why I thought the fake AVI's were working. It only turns to be a black screen in the timeline and preview window when I start dragging clips into the timeline. The source preview is fine and my (imported) audio is fine. Being that it's a .d2v file, I do not have audio with the source video to tell if that works or not....

Also, as stated earlier, if I try importing the avs directly (which is how I used to edit) the importing "status" just stays stuck at the beginning and never moves. No errors or anything, just never imports... ugh...

If there isn't anything showing up when you drop things on the timeline, it could be that you've got a bad avs script, or even just a faulty/corrupted .d2v. If it's a script you've been using for a while (ie. you know it typically works fine) then try saving another .d2v project, just to see if that helps, because there could be some disconnect between the raw DVD VOBs and your fake-avis. If you've done a fair amount of scripting, it could just be that some avs plugins aren't compatible with Vista yet, and thus they're loading, but not actually being used.

Updating drivers typically doesn't hurt either.

Well, I'm going to look through my drivers again, I downloaded and installed the AMVApp Beta and made all of the .d2v project files through the DGIndex included. I have 9 different project files/dvd's I'm trying to use, so I'm pretty sure it doesn't have to do with one being corrupt.

I'm going to try and download all new codecs for everything, I'm just kind of scared to do so because that messed up my other computer (which ended up working fine with just the AMVApp Beta installed later on).

Thanks for the advice, I'm willing to listen if anyone else has any idea's.

Oh, but I do have one question, if it is an AVS or corrupt d2v file, would it preview fine in the source file, but go black when in the timeline? I'm confused about this particular issue. I have used DVD footage and this scipt/method many times with no problems.

I would think it unlikely, but it is possible. If you've having the issues solely with the timeline though, my first guess would be some sort of incompatability between premiere and Vista, codec problems are also possible, but also unlikely, from what you're describing anyway.
