This is the official Clannad discussion thread. Although they are alternate retellings of each other (not sure which came first), you may discuss either the movie or the TV series here.

Did anyone see the prelude? The animation is so damn gorgeous, the use of colour and shines make it seem like this will be another hit, if not better than the Air movie. I heard Clannad is the least liked out of Air, Kanon, Clannad, anyone played the game who can validate the story and characters? =O

Clannad is actually well-liked among the Japanese otaku, and they consider it a lot more epic than Key's past works. They did mention that the number of hours of playing surpassed even Air and Kanon combined. The game players mentioned that this is going to be the toughest visual novel KyoAni is going to adapt because certain choices made and character paths do in fact contradict with each other; it's going to be tough finding the right middle ground.

Interesting thing is that Clannad first premiered around the same time Fate/stay night premiered, and we can guess which became more talked about.

Oh, they didn't pass that up. That lighting-kick girl Tomoyo was popular enough to have her own spin-off called Tomoyo After: It's a Wonderful Life. Interestingly enough, there's a RPG gameplay found in the visual novel.

Now where is that broadcast date? There's been rumors (emphasis on rumors) flying around that Clannad will be 26 episodes but split in to 13 episode chunks per season with the 2nd season of Haruhi starting in-between the season. Thus the rumors (and did I emphasize rumors).

Mark your calenders! Someone went to the TBS Festival and discovered that Clannad TV will premiere on October 4th! Great way to start the fall season!

I haven't seen the series, but what I always wonder about is the name of this anime. "Clannad" is a well-known and well-established Celtic music band. How the heck did it get stuck on an anime? lol.
