Post by kowaiyoukai » Sat Aug 18, 2007 3:31 pm

Hey guys. I recently put up a new AMV, located here:

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... p?v=148924

... <3 vidid.

An anonymous quick commenter asked me to put up a thread for it here, so here it is! Please feel free to comment and critique to your heart's content.

I don't really ever come onto the forums, so forgive me if I'm late in replying. But I will try my best!

Yeeeahhh...you put it up  This video is full of win. Your concept is unique and very well-executed...you captured the mood of the song exceptionally well. There was nothing that distracted from your concept, you were able to keep your focus throughout the entire video. This is a simple, emotional, effective video and one of the best sentimental vids I've downloaded all summer.

The only thing that bothers me is the one part where you use a bunch of dark scenes in a row...don't have the video on this computer at the moment so I can't give you an exact timecode, but I'm pretty sure it's at some point in the last third of the video. The scenes are really hard to see :/

Despite this, you get a full 5/5 from me, this was a surprisingly awesome video and I'm very impressed

Take it easy, CrackTheSky. It wasn't quite as amazing as your reply indicated, even if one does look past the technical issues. (H.264 in avi = bad)

Meh. I wasn't feeling it too much, to tell the truth. It wasn't bad, but I think it had its share of prblems. The video quality in Fruits Basket looked kind of fuzzy, but that might just be me. The song was beautiful, and I think that you matched it well, but I just didn't really feel it too much.. :?

Meh. Gets a 3.75/5.00 from me.

I really enjoyed that, and I agree with CrackTheSky on how well you captured the mood here. I don't care about technicalities, visual quality or whatever; for me, it's all about how the music is put together with the anime, which I think you did an excellent job with.

I'm keeping this.

Infinitely true, but this file is actually an MP4 with a wrong extension (for who knows what reason). The thing that tipped me off to it was that it reports back an 'avc1' identifier, and H.264 in AVI [usually] uses 'H264' - 'avc1' is used by MP4 and MKV. Different MP4-centric and media info programs also react to it or only read it when it has the proper MP4 extension as well. Winamp correctly splits and plays the AAC stream when it has the MP4 extension, and dBPowerAMP correctly reads the information and displays it when .mp4 is used. Regardless of the extension, Haali's splitter handles it, and I don't have Haali's splitter set to deal with AVI files.
