Magix Movie Edit Pro?

Post by tanachu » Tue Aug 21, 2007 11:25 am

Hey all, I've had this program for quite a long time and personally I don't like it because it's too confusing for me. :x So I think I'm going to be switching to Vegas if I can... also, it seems to only accept certain video/music files. Ugh.

No edit button?

Oh yeah, and I wanted to ask if I could get any tips on how to use for the people that do. In your experience, is it worth keeping or is it just a piece of junk?

I like vegas but its about as complicated as they come :/

yea most video editing programs will only "accept certain file types" because some file types were not meant to be edited at all, and some were...

what kinds of files are you trying to use?
and you should always find a way to convert your "file types" to lossless avi.

I love Magix. All of my vids were made with it... but I agree with dax. In fact I was thinking of switching to Vegas because it can do more complex stuff. But in the end I like Magix because I like simple editing, and I'm comfortable with it.
some tips:
-make sure you have the <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... >amvapp</a>
-Always convert your source footage [using Virtualdubmod] to an 'editable' codec before editing... like Huffyuv, Lagarith, or MJPEG [what I use], not a 'distributable' codec like XviD, DivX, x264...
-use hotkeys all the time;
---tab to switch to the timeline view
---'t' to cut clips quickly
---'ctrl+1,2,3,4" to zoom
---'ctrl+2' to zoom to 5 frames is best for getting good cuts
---'ctrlb zooms to full video
---'ctrlc', copy--ctrlv paste
-make a pool of 'takes' [.tak] of your footage by dragging segments into the file manager [press 'L' to change the layout of Magix]
-double-click an object/clip in the timeline to change it's visual qualities
-drag the 'handles' of the objects to fade in/out; each corner of an object in the timeline is a handle + the one in the middle of the object can be dragged up and down to change the transparency of the object/clip [so the object in the track below will show through.]
-learn how to use user defined effects curves;
---right click object>> curve effects>>check x-pos>>place start/stop marker where you want to change the x-position of the clip>>drag slider up and down to whatever x-position you want the clip to be.
----if you want the object to move, just pick a new start/stop location, and change the x-position.

... i could type more, but that should get you well on your way...

It's actually not all that complicated, once you read its manpages.

I found video deluxe 2.0 plus at halfprice books for 8 bucks so I got it. I've been trying to use it lately. not as easy as wmm, but much better for editing songs.

does anyone know if you can speed up clips in it.

.. Object Stretching is also Object Shrinking .. "time effects"

Magix Video Deluxe 2.0 Plus is quite the system with 32 tracks/layers of Audio/Video.
.. you will find that it has a really bad attitude with Divx & Xvid ( never edit/encode these! ) plus Indio 5.0 and newer "stall" in this design.

.. you've got a real GEM of an Editor" ^______^ Enjoy Image

.. no edit button ... Grrrr!

..ok .. Specifically How To change Speeds and/or Reverse the Video at the same time:

.. Hover your mouse over the Video in question; Right Click for a pop-up and select
.. Video Effects .. Shift + Y ( I had to make sure this version of Magix could do both! )
.. and this is the Pop-up ^_^
Image
.. Note the two Orange area's .. Speed Play ( for that clip ) and 3.12 with the arrow.
.... yes folks, that Minus Sign and the Arrow are all you need in Magix to reverse a Video.

.. Does that speed you up any 8-) 8-) 8-) heheee

hey thanks a bunch! wow, for some reason I missed that video effects thing :P

what's the problem with divx/xvid? I've been messing around editing with xvid clips, but I haven't tried encoding with them.
