Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni

I thought this anime was going to be a light mystery anime with some blood thrown around, but after the first half of episode 1, it already feels heavy. There was a dread and horror at what is happening and perhaps what will happen. This isn't a light story, the elements in here are heavy, the themes humbling, and visuals disturbing.

I like it, I like the characters, i like the setting and atmosphere.

Surprised the guts out of me.

Rozen Maiden, actually. I'd gotten it and tried watching the first one or two episodes and it bored the crap out of me - this was back during its original run. Later, when I started getting more adamant about not letting my huge-ass queue of shows sit around, I sat down and forced myself through the beginning and realized how addictive it gets later on.

Sailormoon Live Action is as fun to watch, as it is embarassing to admit you have a full set of the files for it :)

The girls look good in it, but the fighting is "oh my god, why am I watching this, and letting other know I am" :)

The show went and made a fuss of being true to season one for about 3 shows, then it just went off into the twilight zone. Eventually I was wondering, what the heck's the deal with making Venus dying? The season ended, and it became clear, don't wait for anything more. Pity.

But it was kinda funny watching them try to ignore gravity.
Anime, one of the few things about the internet that doesn't make me hate the internet.

Berserk: At first with the outdated animation and dreading that the violence would reach levels equal to Elfen Lied, I thought for sure that I would give up. In the end it is one of the very few animes that left wanting so much more that I'm actually planning on collecting the mangas to get the whole story.

Evangelion: I thought for sure I would find the series painfully overrated with all the praise behind it. Instead, I too became a huge fan, and was overwhelmed when I came to realize that I had seen so many other animes that were influenced by it before ever actually seeing Evangelion.

Wolf's Rain: When I first saw this series and figured out on how it was going to end I worried that it was another Evangelion clone, but with wolves instead of mechas. However, the show had so much meaning and emotion to its finale that I was left awestruck and relieved that I didn't have to sit through a truckload of teen angst and self-discovery on acid again (I have my limits ;P).
