Funny you mention Slam Dunk in this context, which may very well be the source for the Naruto main characters. Nearly as obvious as the szene that requiett has shared with us (especially since the Naruto author has admitted to be a Slam Dunk fan).

My cousin is so crazy about naruto that I think he buys the whole DVD version of it. I haven't seen it yet but they say it is great. Well perhaps I need to check if its really good.
