some Amv's ruining your amv's plans

Post by DooKi` » Thu Sep 13, 2007 12:06 am

Just kind of throwing it out there, but when I started to make my amv the other day, and just as a break I figured I'd watch some. I came across a video which was using the same anime and same type of music. After watching it I couldnt get my original idea back and all I could do is remember that damn video!! Anyways does anyone else ever regret watching AMVS while makeing them?

For me, I cant watch any AMVS with the same anime im using... I just end up losing all of the original imagination to it.

If my amvs have a different enough theme or whatever, then I can watch other amvs using the same sources no problem, without worrying about being too influenced

That's one of my favorite ways of making videos; watch how someone gets an effect/scene/video to work, then steal that idea and make it my own. It just adds one more layer to the concept of the "amv community".

Before I start making my amv, I normally check out videos that may have the same idea or music or something. It helps me get more inspiration. Unless of course, one of the videos I see totally wipes the floor with my idea o_< then I just leave it or go onto a different idea. Also, if the idea winds up being too unoriginal, I'll drop it as well.

Meh that only happens to me if the song they used is the same or at the very least the same band.

Luckily that never happens to me! Nope :/

No, seriously, it's pretty rare that I decide to do an amv with a popular concept at all.

It wouldn't. I usually am pretty firm on my ideas before hand, and even if someone did the same exact song with the same anime, I'd still do mine...it wouldn't bother me.
Care about the video itself, not what format it's in.

x2 *^_^*

But yeah, I will usually go looking to see how many times a combo has been used when I get an idea. If its been used more than twice, I'll usually drop it without watching the vids. If its one I feel very strongly about, I'll either watch the other vids to see what they're like and decide from there if I'll still make the vid. If I still feel strongly about making the vid after watching the other vids (either because the other people had a different concept or they murdered it. . .or I just REALLY want to make the vid.) then I will still make it. But I get so many ideas and I have a short attention span, so its really not that much of a big deal to drop one. Or sometimes I'll just make the vid without going to see if its been done just so I don't have to worry about it. :P

I want this to happen to me, but it never does. :|

Seriously, if the AMVs - nay, if even all the music I wanted to make videos to had been used in AMVs, I would never have so much as started making them and would be all the happier for it. Alas, I keep having to do all that myself
