Girls and Yukatas

Post by Pas » Sat Sep 22, 2007 5:26 pm

Just wondering if anyone had any good pictures of anime girls wearing yukatas. It's just that I can't really be arsed searching through my collection of manga to find them. The reason I'm asking is because I need an "artist model" as such, and the character I'm drawing is wearing a yukata. I'm having difficulties drawing the bottom part of it.

Cheers in advance :D

.. me thinks your a little confused; a Yukata is the Japanese Summer Cotton Kimono.
Yu = bath
kata = a lounge robe, bath robe and sleeping robe .. the yukata robe should never be worn as clothing in public.
The nemaki is the actual true "pajama" sleeping robe. The nemaki robe can be distinguished from other cotton yukata from the shape of the sleeve. The sleeves of the robe are perfectly straight.

before asking about the Yukata, you might want to see what these differences really are:

Kimono - meaning clothing or things to wear is the basic japanese clothing

Yukata - the summer kimono

Nagajugan - undergarments

Clothing Accessories - obi, shoes, socks, etc.

Haori - short silk jackets

Michiyuki - Overcoats

Hakama - japanese pants

Uchikake - most formal kimono

Shiro-maku - wedding kimono

.. as to what the fill length outfit might look like, you simply need to deside which era your dressing for. http://web.mit.edu/jpnet/kimono/index.html http://web.mit.edu/jpnet/kimono/index.html

Cheers post-it, I really loved the last 3 pictures.

Also, I don't really have an idea of what era I am basing the kimono off, all I know is that I want it to represent japanese culture, and by doing so, the anime fan population. It may sound strange right now, but when I upload the picture you might understand a little more.

Right now I've finished pretty much the whole kimono, but the very bottom part, where the kimono ends and the feet come out, I don't really understand how to draw their shoes. They're kinda like sandles, right?

Anyway, thanks to everyone for helping :D

That's a dude in a Yukata, not a chick.
I am the bone of my sword
Steel is my body and fire is my blood
I have created over a thousand blades
Unknown to Death
Nor known to Life
Have withstood pain to create many weapons
Yet, those hands will never hold anything
So as I pray, unlimited blade works.

yup .. however the lining around the neck was the point.

.. Kimono's are not just for girls ( Strawberry Egg's sorta took things to extremes. )
