Buying Anime/music because of an AMV

Have any of you bought anime or music simply because you saw it in an AMV?

I don't have TV any more, and even before I lost it, AMVs were pretty much my sole entertainment advertisement. I get most of my new music and anime through AMVs.
In fact, in the last two years, I haven't bought an anime that didn't look good in an AMV first.

On the flip side, have you ever bought anime/music FOR an AMV? I hate Lain and Eva, but I bought them specifically to make an AMV for them. I know one other editor who does the same; buying anime only to make AMVs with them, but not liking the series itself.

And to put matters worse: going back to the first thing stated, have you seen an anime in an AMV, thought it was cool, bought the anime, and then when you watched it, you were put down because the anime wasn't as good as the AMV made it out to be? That's happened to me a few times. ;_;

Euphoria is an amazing video constructed by the amazing Koop.

But when I watched RahXephon, I thought it was horrible.

I've done the first two, but so far there hasn't been an amv that has convinced me to get a series...I use the previews on my dvd's and input from other org-ites for that

I got the movie, but wasn't impressed. However, I still feel like getting the series, since other videos are convincing me that it has some sort of redeeming quality.

Knives' video, and Unlimited's pokemon video, for instance...
