Not really. There is some stuff, but it´s really advanced stuff like the Trapcode sound key plug in, or whatever it´s called. The best way is:

Let your editing software display your audio in wave form.
Do you see the peaks? The peaks are often something sync worthy. Keep an eye on them! Play the audio... Do you see how the stuff matches with the peaks?

Now change the zoom in your timeline (it zooms on the waveform too). The peaks will be set up different. Now you´ll hear/see out other syncworthy stuff. Zoom plays a big role at finding beats imo.

Listen to the sound over and over again (or small soundparts is better. You know what I mean. Play/Pause) and try to remeber the peaks. Mark them with keyframes or something else if you don´t have keyframes or markers.

That´s it. You just need practice that´s all ;) Don´t worry about it.
You can find me on YT under "Bauzi514". Subscribe to never miss my AMV releases. :amv:

Try scrubbing backwards through the audio, too, if there's a particular area that you're having trouble identifying the exact place a certain sound occurs. Sometimes it's a lot easier to hear it in reverse.

your ears are your greatest resource for this dilemma train them well by listening to the song over and over and visualizing what would sync with what...

or just say f-it and just slap some video on that timeline at random O:

I play the song over and over and over while I'm harvesting clips. It helps familiarize me with it and it also helps me get into the mindset of the video I'm doing--it can help you look at clips differently.

Me too, and this also helps in another way. If you get tired of just listening to the song, you'll probably never finish editing it. (without going insane)

.. the best way to learn is with DDClips -or- ... MuHaHa something like Magix Music Maker 12 Deluxe which is a simple Audio Looping program that also does Video on a limited scale.
.. the beauty of a Music Maker for timing the Video is nothing new; and having a program that is "designed" to Synchronize Audio to Video only seems a fair answer to your question 8-)
