Cutting out intro and creidts, adding black for amv contest

Post by ForeverZeroo » Mon Oct 15, 2007 4:43 pm

ok i was a dumbass.
i saved a huffy with my opening credits and my creidts afterwards.

I need to know if its possible to:
A. cut the ends of this amv off (IE: the intro creidt, the after creidts)
B. Can i add a few seconds of black on each end?

also if i CAN then:
A. Will it lose video quility if i use huffy?
B. If i use huffy on a huffy will it make an even BIGGER file...like massively bigger.

please help asap

You should be able to do it using trim(start, end) where start and end are frame numbers

I'm not exactly sure how to add black off the top of my head
if you are using a lossless codec you won't lose quality, and recompressing huffy with huffy won't make your file bigger (you will notice a little change because of the trimming, and adding black video)

you may just have to create your own black video segment in your editing program and splice it in using avisynth
given that the framerate, resolution and colorspace are the same...you should be able
to add the black leaders in avisynth like this:

avisource("black.avi")+avisource("video.avi")+avisource("black.avi")
replacing black and video with their respective names and filepaths

The easy way:
1. Load your existing Huffyuv file into your editing program.
2. Trim the credits.
3. Add black as needed.
4. Save as a new Huffyuv file.

It should be like unzipping and re-zipping a file since Huffyuv is lossless compression. The resulting edited file should be nearly the same size (most likely smaller) than your original Huffyuv.

Just to point out, if using the one-line technique, you need to use two pluses, not one. Using two makes sure any attached audio is kept in sync.
