This has been on my mind for awhile now and have always wondered how to replicate the silhouette effect. If you have seen the Samurai Champloo opening then you would know what I am talking about. I am not sure if this has been asked before. I want this effect to be animated.
It would be really appreciated if anybody can provide me with any help at all. And I am using After Effects Pro 7 and Premiere Pro 2.
Silhouette effect?

I was thinking of something along the lines of this.

I know this is also off-topic, but I would like to know how to make a different color theme (as you see on the individual characters).

.. hehe .. I remember doing something similar once!
.. of course for my purposes I only needed two colors, Black and White; and my sources were all still Images .. so it was possible to cheat by using the Threshold Effect in Adobe Photoshop or The GIMP to get the effect ^_^
(would YOU want to draw in all those Lines to delineate where the Shadows should fall yourself?? .. no thank you sir!)
.. whether such a simple approach will work in your case as well .. depends on the Shading of your Source Images of course ..
