  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

My First AMV

Post by SpiteStix » Sat Oct 20, 2007 1:07 am

Wow, finally finished this. Over 2 weeks time of practicing and restarting it over and over. Damn subs are hard to get rid of and got the syncing down.

Go go Cloud!
Hope you like it.
Let me know what you guys think. =)

Pretty good first~!

I liked what you were doing with the black fades and flashes. They were timed just fine but I couldn't help being bothered that they weren't timed exactly on the beats. It's like the beat sync is coming a little too early.. But you kept the pacing just nice and mostly the fast cuts were appropriate. The sync was nicely progressing along with the song~ There were some beats that weren't synced though..

This was also somewhat less random than your every-day AC video. It was chronological and linear as hell, which could seem somewhat dull, but imo it's always better than picking random AC battle clips and stuffing them into to the video. The clip selection was fun to watch and really easy to follow, especially if you're a fan of AC, but very disposable.. It's highly a personal preference though.. I prefer a neat character profile in AC videos 8-)

The quality should have been better. In case you're not familiar with the tech guides available here on org, you can find them HERE.. But, overall, this video was a good first video. Sort of watch-and-forget type of a video, but enjoyable. You're off a good start. Lots of potential for good beat sync~ Keep on editing 8-)

3/5 or something like that

Thanks! ^_^

Yup. My primary focus on this AMV is practice on syncing and that song choice was tough to keep up with and ultimately, I'd be bound to have some mistakes.
Appreciate the advice =)

Beat syncing was very well done, and on the whole, I thought you did a good job for your first AMV.

You, sir, definitely need to keep editing. You already have the basics of beat sync (and even some internal sync) down, and it's only your first video!

Yeah, it lacked a general concept, but this is an action video, and one doesn't always expect those to have some kind of plot. Video quality could surely be better, but with some studying of the guides, you'll be fine on that in the future. It's not really something I'd get on your ass on too much for your first AMV anyway, but just know that there's room for improvement yet

I see major potential here. With some practice, I think you'll be putting out some pretty asskicking videos in no time. As it is, this one was pretty damn good, so keep at it. :o

Why do you say that? If it's a matter of money, check out the Software List sticky for some good free alternatives, or a copy of whatever Magix is calling their latest video editor will only run you about $50.
