There are programs called as Vdub Mod and Avisynth for this. Also DVD footage would work great. Fan subs usually have crappy quality, but its possible to make great quality with raws. to find out about fixing up quality on stuff read this

its very involved and will probably take u a while, but covers everything u can possibly need, (and u dont need to do it all at once)

I couldn't hear clearly and the visibility was very vague so I'd say no.

Not a big fan of AMV's with subs in them. Distracts me.
