your ending actually used the effects somewhat well, what exactly was the purpose of the filmstrip other than to hit every beat in the song, the best effects are generally the ones you don't notice for they enhance a story or show mood or flow of the song, the way the song is laid out i don't see it really being a song to show mass effects that are there for visual eye candy but more for meaning, a lot of your scene choice fit well, however in the strip i noticed it wasn't very meaningful. i say the ending fit better because you can actually see what's going on in your video rather than just using effects for no reason, your video wasn't bad, but you could of used better effects to emphasize the meaning behind it. really though, i can tell you spent a lot of time on this video and that shows, just maybe not in the best way.

the beat sync was just an add-on to the film strips, as I mentioned in my prior post, they serve to show the contrast discussed in the song, things are not as "wonderful" as they appear to be or as they are said to be... I challenge you to find the true purpose of the film strip at the bottom, I'm not one to just give all the answers but I assure you there is more to it than just beat syncing... thanks for your critique I will take it into consideration on my next video.

Kadaj was not disrespectful in his post at all. Everything he said I agree with; to me the effects seemed superfluous and mostly unnecessary, though I won't lie, I did like some of them. The visual quality is bad, and so is the audio quality. Seriously, you should be thanking Kadaj for saying more than just "I liked it" or "I didn't like it" because he gave good reasons stating why he did and did not like it. To ME, it seems like you're just pissed off that his opinion of your video was mostly negative, and to that I say, get the fuck over it.

Now, as for what I think. The video was very good, in my opinion. The mood was absolutely great and the editing was not-too-shabby. However, I must say that I *hated* the scrolling strip along the bottom. I realize you put it in there for a conceptual reason, but aesthetically it's all wrong and takes away from the video way more than it adds to it. Which am I supposed to focus on? The strip or the background? Ultimately I end up looking at the background the entire time and the strip might as well not be there at all so I can get a fullscreen view.

The ending, I didn't really like. The brightness increases were poorly-implemented - I felt it would have been better if you had faded them out instead of hard-cutting them out.

Also, a bunch of the anime you used was in the wrong aspect ratio - the only one that I can remember off the top of my head was Spirited Away, but I'm pretty sure there were others too.

Overall, I'd give this a 3.5/5, rounded up to four because the mood was great, but I really think you need to learn to accept constructive criticism (which Kadaj's WAS) a little more gracefully.

Wow! Pissed off? Now you're misinterpreting my response to Kadaj665. I did appreciate his response. Did you not read my response at all, that I wonder? Indeed I am not pissed off, but I must insist that you refrain from using such foul language on this forum, by that I am referring to the "get the **** over it" That was completely unnecessary and unfounded. My response showed my appreciation as I took the points he made into consideration. You and him both said you don't like the bottom strip and I am but fine with that. I simply explained that I had a good reason for using that strip and defended myself from being accused of showing off. As I said to Kadaj665, I am sorry you did not see what I see in the bottom clip. I know we all have our different views on things and here is one such occasion. As for the aspect ratios... yes, I totally agree many of the videos were of different quality and so I apologize for that and if I could do it all over again I wouldn't because it is just way too troublesome and I am done with the video and moving on. Again, I do appreciate Kadaj665's comment and your own and will take them to heart on my next video which I promise will have no bottom strip... I still don't know where you got the impression that I am pissed off but I assure you I am far from it. Delighted would be another word for it as I prefer comments such as yours and Kadaj665's to the ever so common "it's good" "it sucked" "I didn't like it" "I loved it" The only thing I didn't appreciate about your comment was the bad language. I happen to find such language very offensive. But I digress, thank you for your comment, I have been trying to find a way to produce a better video quality for my music videos but so far they always end up much larger than 100MB. But I will keep at it and hopefully my next video will be more to your liking.

This AMV I found was EXELENT you did a VERY good job and it’s a very impressive piece of workmanship! Unlike the few on this forum, I really liked the strips on the bottom, its original and something you don’t see often. Paired with great clips and great sync it truly makes for an amazing AMV. And the movie strips at the bottom makes for great replay value!

Please don’t be put off by some of the negative feedback or should I say "constructive criticism” An to be totally blunt I don’t think it was there purely for constructive purposes but I have an opinion, although I could be wrong... It’s imposable to meet everyone’s high standards, and not everyone will like what clips you play or what effects you use etc… But theirs always people that like the bits others don’t! So don’t be put off from trying things again.

The only faults I can make with your work on this AMV personally, is the ending where it changes from colour to black&white it would be better if it was more smooth, And the strip of changing colour at the top of the screen just after it goes black&white. And lastly more conclusive ending (easier said then done, I know).
But GREAT AMV 4.7/5 this is defiantly going onto disc with a few of your other great AMV's!! Keep up the good work!

Ps: loved the beginning on this AMV and hope you will release it in better quality in the future, rather you then me though

It definitely wasn't bad. At first view I was really distracted by the bottom strip, never knowing where to look (bottom? top?). So I thought that I'll give it 3/5, not more. When I watched the video for the second time, I somehow managed to get sucked in by the atmosphere, and watch the strip and the rest of the vid at the same time (or rather quickly change my focus). The idea about shrinking/expanding strip and characters leaving the "background" layer was a good one. The video looked a lot more plastic compared to having just the bar at the bottom and the background.

Nevertheless, the bar was still distracting a lot - mainly because of the flashy frame and all those color changes (the same goes for the colorful frames at the end of the video). I can only quote CrackTheSky on this one: "I realize you put it in there for a conceptual reason, but aesthetically it's all wrong and takes away from the video way more than it adds to it.
Anothe issue is the brightness increase used in the last sequence. It was way too flashy for my taste. Something like fade-in/fade-out would be better I guess.
I realize that you tried to give the video some original look and you have some good ideas but some of them weren't carried out too good. Maybe if the bar wasn't there almost for the entire length of the video, it could be bearable.

Aspect ratio? The spirited away segment is the only really problematic one for me.

Overall I have mixed feelings about this. The background by wouldn't probably work much good only by itself, but the stripe can be pretty distracting. The mood is good and getting better every time I watch it (maybe I'm getting used to the stripe). Some of the effects are good, some are worse (the Gaara's head - 03:50).
After I got used to the stripe effects to some degree I'd give it 3.7/5.

EDIT:
I don't find the quality too bad. Of course it isn't 100% sharp HDTV picture but it also isn't overcompressed pixellated hazy chaos.
