Just got my DVDs onto my computer. Now what do I do?

Post by missind33 » Sun Nov 04, 2007 8:19 am

I just used that DVD Decypher to download my DVDs onto my computer. But unfortanetly the DVDs have taken all of the space on my computer, and I wanted to know what I can do to compress it, or if you had any other ideas to give my computer more room. I just ordered Sony Vegas 6.0 (finally!) but now I believe I won't have room on my computer, can any please give me some advice?

The guide is your friend.

but seriously now. Are you sure you need all the dvds you put on your computer? You might be able to take some of them off if they're not needed. Also, if you're really serious about the hobby, you should probably look into getting a second harddrive.

.. an additional hard drive never hurts .. an external hard drive if its a laptop ..

.. additional memory never hurts ..

.. playing with rippers and editors never hurts either.

.. Vegas, like Ulead Avid and Magix, has many many hidden locations for special features:
1) anyone can see that it can trim the beginning and end of a scene but once those clip are place on the Video Line, how do you combine them? Time them? Join them? .. how about with a Video Joiner usually found by right clicking on the Video Clip itself -- it will bring-up options usually missed by the manuals.
2) anyone can find hidden option if you owned a prior version of that software .. transitions & Joiners are not your only options .. FX options are quite often hidden and ignored by manuals because .. because they really don't want to re-write things that "you" already know are in place by owning prior versions.
3) Special Options like x,y,z rotations of Clips and video Reversing are sometimes ignored by manuals because those feature are too well known to everybody.
4) Importing and Exporting Filters and Transitions are common place today and some editors even have their own Editors for such things.
5) Photo Editing and 3D rendering/creation are common options built-in to most editors for Objects and Logo's.

.. all these options take-up space on your hard drive and eat-up memory so be prepared 8-)
