September 9th, 2007 -- Upper Darby, PA -- Sho (fire), hi (soul), ai (love). These 3 ANGELic aspects symbolize some of the most important aspects of the spring season. However, there is one unNERVing hardcore element absent from the mix. The best there is, was, & ever will be in extreme Asian music/gaming fusion festivals returns for its 5th season with 1 groundbreaking change: expansion into 2 days! TAKII 5 ~Shin Seiki (Neon Genesis)~ is FREE & comes to you from Philadelphia's own The Rotunda @ 4014 Walnut St. on April 5th-6th 2008.

TAKII 4 ~Rhythm D-Generation X-Treme~ not only served as the launchpad for some of TAKII's newest events that will continue on next season (AMV & Cosplay Battle Royales, Video Lounge, TAKII Legends Performance Series, & more), but was also the site for the day's biggest announcement: starting with TAKII 5, all future seasons of TAKII will be at least 2 DAYS LONG! And in a burst of emotion akin to Shinji Ikari crying a SOULful REFRAIN, TAKII faithful shouted their boundless approval of the news, bringing emotions to a fusion festival fever pitch. How could the TAKII brand expand into an additional day? Could TAKII 5 stand the heat that is the intensity of its fans worldwide? ....but of course ^_*.

An additional day to celebrate all that is Asian music & video gaming only means festival-goers should expect nothing but the highest quality tier of Asian Entertainment. Be amazed as the good, bad, & downright disturbed compete for vocal glory in TAKII's own Asian Karaoke Idol Show. Be astonished as you are witness to uncanny cosplayers strut their stuff to come out on top in our Cosplay Battle Royale. Be inspired as you aspire to achieve TAKII immortality in 1 of our varied world championship-quality gaming tournaments. Above all else, be anxious as you become witness to the returns of some very honorable guests, Otaku Jeopardy, eclectic dealers, an unforgettable Wild Card moment, Say WTF Karaoke, & so much MORE!

Keep in mind, TAKII 5 is still FREE to enter; this pass will only gain you more exclusive access, TAKII-style.

A NEW way to register debuts this season at TAKII 5 ~Shin Seiki (Neon Genesis)~! Would you like to pay a-la-carte for the things you have loved doing for the past 4 seasons (ie: the contests, the vocal drama, & our upcoming new shows/games) & spend MORE MONEY? * Rules/Restrictions
o You don't need to be present @ TAKII 5 to compete, but you MUST be a member of the TAKII Forums.
o 1 AMV per category; no submitting the same AMV in multiple categories.
o Entries that break any of the rules are subject to withdrawl from the competition.
o All decisions in regard to this competition are final.
o Be creative & take it to the extreme!
o Your entry signifies that you have read all of the availables rules & that you aren't breaking any restrictions that apply. (Also see our "Rules & Regulations" page.)

* Tech Specs
o All audio must be in an uncompressed, MP3, WMA, or DivX Audio format.
o All video, if not burned to VCD/DVD, must be in an uncompressed AVI, DiVX, MPEG, MPEG 4, MKV, or RM format. Con-standard resolutions & frame rates will apply
o Time duration of your entry shall not exceed 6 minutes.
o TAKII Coordinators will not be responsible for coding/editing your submission for you. Once it has been submitted, it becomes your final edit.

Some FAQ for "AMV Battle Royale":

Q: What is an AMV?
A: "AMV" stands for "Animated Music Video", combining clips from popular Anime shows & the like (of Asian influence) with a song of the creators choosing.

Q: Can we include other video clips besides just Anime?
A: As long as a majority of the AMV is of the Anime persuasion, other Asian-themed clips can be used.

Q: If we submit online, can we link you to a place to download the AMV?
A: Yes, you may do so. SendSpace (http://sendspace.com) & MegaUpload (http://megaupload.com) are 2 great places to do so w/o compromising too much quality. YouTube (http://youtube.com) is a nice option to rely on when all else fails, but be mindful of entry quality being compromised under any circumstance.

Q: Can we fill out an entry form online, but submit the video @ TAKII 5?
A: NO, all entries must be received by the contest deadline (March 20th, 2008), no exceptions.

Q: Can we submit an AMV other than our own (ie: finding one on YouTube)?
A: No; it's not hard to verify that kind of thing, either. Honesty is the best policy ^_^.

Q: If we have subtitles/watermarks in our submission, is that a good thing?
A: If they are subtitles to introduce your entry, then it's fine. If it's subtitles/watermarks from a fansub or otherwise, it's not the worst thing in the world (but it's also not encouraged & tends to leave your AMV looking tacky & annoying).

Q: Can we submit out entry on VHS tape, or any other method not outlines in the guidelines?
A: No, not at this time.

The Musical SailorMoon: Kaguya Shima Densetsu (The Legend Of Kaguya Island) AUDITIONS!
Neko-chan Productions is proud to announce their 1st round of auditions for their rendition of the 7th SailorMoon Musical (aka SeraMyu), Kaguya Shima Densetsu (The Legend Of Kaguya Island) coming to the 5th season of TAKII! For those of you who are unaware, SailorMoon exists in manga, anime, live-action, & musical formats (the later of which is commonly referred to as SeraMyu). SailorMoon musicals have been running on stages across Japan since 1993, going well beyond the storylines created for the manga & the anime series. However, none of the musicals have been imported to the USA as of yet & this is where Neko-chan Productions comes in. Their production of Kaguya Shima Densetsu will serve as the ultimate plea from SailorMoon fans all over the nation to Naoko Takuechi (SailorMoon creator) & the other Japanese companies that made SM possible that their continuance of the legacy of SailorMoon would not only be appreciated, but remembered for all time.

March 21st, 2008 -- Upper Darby, PA -- Planning an order of events is just as important as coming up with events to have. That is why TAKII Coordinators are proud to announce that after many weekends of deliberations, Chinese buffet outings, & Super Smash Bros. Brawl melees, we have developed a finalized version of our official schedule for TAKII 5 weekend! Featuring an expansion not only into a new panel room, but outdoors, we've made sure that every TAKII fan will have the chance to spend as much time watching our fabulous live performances as they do competing for glory of their own. A byproduct of the schedule's release is the knowledge of something we have worked very hard keeping under-wraps, but could no longer hold back the excitement for: all of TAKII 5's official Vid Game Tourneys! This season of the world's most extreme Asian culture fusion festival features 9 different tourneys on the hottest consoles around today.Throughout the weekend, TAKII 5 attendees will have the opportunity to play on 6-8 HD-ready, wide-screen TVs (sponsored by Team TAKII partner, Rent-A-Center), battling friends & foes in a plethora of pugnacious competitions for Vid Game Tourney glory, including (but not limited to): WWE SmackDown! Vs Raw 2008, Pokemon Battle Revolution, Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo ~HD Remix~, & Mario Kart: Double Dash. This season's Vid Game Tourneys also feature a Mortal Kombat Challenge, a Pirates VS Ninjas Challenge, an Ultimate Entertainer Challenge, & the intense Anime Battle Royale.

So, that ain't enough for you, is it? You really wanna go hardcore? Well TAKII 5 takes video gaming to the extreme & then some with a "super"-special Vid Game Tourney featuring....you guessed it....Super Smash Bros. Brawl (with secrets unlocked)! Believe us, playing the new Brawl game for days on end to obtain all of the unlockables was hard work, but a labor of love for our festival fans nonetheless (^_^). Seriously, with 30+ characters, more stages than you can count, & a soundtrack out of this world, we guarantee this will be 1 of the most exciting Tourneys this season to be a part of. Ever wonder how the joke "so King Dedede, Bowser, Ganondorf, & Meta-Knight walk into a bar...." would play out? Play in the Tourney to find out!

Topping off the extreme fusion festival's gaming offering for the weekend is the "always imitated, but never duplicated" unique enigma TAKII extremists have come to know & love as Final Vid Game Tourneys: LIVE On PPV! What makes this Tourney different compared to any other, you ask? Featuring the fusion festival's own versions of Mugen Fighter & Stepmania, participants will get to come out to their own entrance theme music & battle while playing on TAKII's 12ft. x 24ft. projection screen! As if it couldn't get better, we've added a bit more of a WWE-themed twist with the inclusion of some special play-by-play commentary by some of TAKII 5's featured guests & performers. The chills sent down your spine as you play legendary Stepmania Tournamix favorites, or the passion you exude as you face off against the unlikely pairing of Fat Albert & Mother Brain in Mugen Fighter -- are emotions that you can only experience not by thinking about the Tourney, but by being a part of it!!

April 4th, 2008 -- Upper Darby, PA -- ....are you ready? ....we said....ARE YOU READY!? After 6+ months of waiting, the 5th season of the world's most extreme Asian culture fusion festival is here! We're sure you all have been keeping track of TAKII-related developments through our official website, as well as periodical press releases, BUT IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T, expect nothing but non-stop hardcore action on BOTH DAYS, including (but not limited to) watching the Evangelion movie on the big screen, seeing a Pink Lady tribute show, numerous & innovative vid game tourneys, enigmatic & revival versions of classic gameshows (with a TAKII twist), & so much more.

Because TAKII & the organizations that bring it to life can't contain all of the fun & excitement in one area, we decided to make even more of an impact on the Asian community. That is why we are honored to announce that the Charity Beneficiary for TAKII 5 is ASIAC (AIDS Services In Asian Communities):

In June of 1995, a diverse group of Asians and Pacific Islanders organized in response to early indicators that the AIDS epidemic was at its earliest stages within Philadelphia's Asian and Pacific Islander communities (known as ASIAC). They also organized in response to:

* the lack of targeted services to populations most impacted by HIV infection -- men who have sex with men
* critical service gaps in the health and social service system, and
* the need for leadership through advocacy and community organizing efforts around the AIDS crisis as it impacts Asian and Pacific Islander communities.

The organization is a recognized authority on HIV/AIDS issues in Asian & Pacific Islander communities demonstrated by our professional expertise, research, community organizing efforts, participation in policy & planning activities, advocacy activities, and track record for quality services.
