Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Nice concept! I also had the idea of doing an 8-bit video, but thought it would be too much work to make it look very nice. I never thought of tracing though! The only problem with the vid (I think) is that it didn't have much of a story/point, but it sure is fun to watch!

Oh yeah (small nitpick), there was that part where there was no black outlines - was that on purpose or did you forget that?

Nice job and keep coming up with good concepts as that is what I really like about your videos! (that is why your videos stand out)

Right, I have finally time to comment on videos, and I'm sorry I didn't get to this sooner.

I was disappointed by this. I'm not gonna lie. After daydream, how could I not be? It was such a milestone in creativity and... Yeah, you've heard me rant about that one enough. Basically, when this video kicked in, I was like, "Oh man, awesome concept... This is ZS alright.". I was getting so excited just thinking about the places your 8-bit concept was gonna take in the next 3 minutes. And then, where did we go? Not very far.

I was debating this with CrackTheSkies the other day, and his opinion was, in a nutshell, all the effort you put into doing this frame-by-frame and the deadline you had for Masters excuses you from fully developing your concept. I couldn't disagree more. I would go so far as to say, what's the point of spending so much time on a crazy visual concept if you're not gonna make sure you make the most of it? It's only a one time thing. It's not like you can make the sequel now if you feel like it. This is it. And what 8-bit references did we get? RPG attack thing, high scores board... I think that's it. I mean, what's the point of watching them play Olympics in 8-bit? Can we watch them in thermal vision too? How about X-ray? I just don't see the point. Then again, maybe I'm just missing the reference.

Don't get me wrong, this is still a good video. But coming from you, I can't help but expect awesome :)

Thanks for the honest opinion. Quite frankly, you summed up the frustration I was feeling in about the last 2 weeks while working on this thing, and I'm glad somebody picked up on that ;) I was torn between "wait 2 more years for the next Master's, make it completely awesome, and not have a vid for this AWA" and "Lucky Star is now, nobody will care in 2 years" (dumb thought, I know). I keep thinking in the back of my head that I want to go back and redo the whole thing, but then I tell myself "no, over with, done" and start thinking ahead again. Maybe in 10 years, who knows. I guess that's the catch 22 of working on stuff for contests...on one hand, being under deadline is a great motivator, on the other hand, time is an issue. But if I've learned anything from this project, it's knowing when to hold em and when to fold em. The gears are turning, got a few new things going on, so yeah, next time :p

Thanks again guys :)
