In general, can we add participation for a particular con if we just *submit* videos to it, or do we actually have to be accepted into the finals to add that to the video description?

Good question! I am not sure if there is a golden rule on the org about this. However, if you enter a contest, then yes, you are indeed participating in the contest. So I would definitely count an entry as a form of participation. Plenty of people enter contests, and only so many final.

I would answer "yes" to your question, but if anyone out there has any further clarification, then please fire away!

Not that it is any different from the rules posted in this thread.

HOWEVER, you can now get an entry form without contacting us in advance!

In my opinion, no. While submitting AMVs to a con is technically participating, I thing that, unless they made the cut, they weren't really in the contest. But, that's just my opinion, I don't know of any hard and fast rule.

Uhm...is there any size-restriction for the AMVs submitted in the contest? xD
I mean, my AMV turned out like 200 MB

If they want DV-avi/MPEG-2 they´re expecting files <= 1GB if you ask me.

Nope. No size restrictions.

MPEG 2 and DV-AVI tend to be larger files. But that also can vary on a number of factors. As long as your video entry looks good, sounds good, and plays well, send it in! If we observe any concerns with your entry after we receive it, then those issues will be addressed.

count me in. i'm encoding it PAL-DV right now, and by noon i'll upload it. guess i have to request a fill form on the e-mail right?

l8r edit: mine has 310 mb !!!
